you missed the point to my response. i never compared RC to Doggsledding. Lumberjacking and some of the other examples i used are more physically hardcore on the competitors than pro RC car racing also.

however, using your example and switching it to RC Car Full sponsored drivers: if Mark Rheinhard, Hara.....etc. if they or any other RC Pros finished 40th in a field of 40 drivers at a couple of major races? they would lose their sponsors or get shuffled to other companies. they wouldn't be getting a full salary, travel pay, expenses, and free equip to race or focus just on RC Cars. in a sense it would be like losing your job. they are under pressure to perform at the top levels or actually get a real job.
