Here is my setup for the Region 3 race we just had at the Durham RC Speedway in North Carolina. It was somewhat cold weather for May here. Also rained and had to wait for the track to dry out before we could practice and run the race. Handout tire was CS27s and should have been CS22s. But this weather was unexpected. The day before was nice for the 27s. So traction was at a minium. But the car was hooked up nicely. Might be a good starting point for some at this track.

Oh yeah, also ended up breaking a front axle on the SD during practice. Luckily I had a spare car. The cup on the axle broke. Right where it holds the pin for the dog bone. Kinda weird but oh well. Looks like I might have to order some Square Titanium ones here shortly.

I cant believe how many people are breaking axles on this car! Are there any more weak points found yet?

Front hub carriers and steering knuckles. Those were the most common things this weekend at the norrca on road nationals. the steel dogbones were bending also. diff screws break if you try to lock the diff REALLY tight.

I'm going to have some Ti and Al stuff made up for the SD in the next few weeks like the dogbones, spools, and lightweight input shafts.

myself and another driver actually pulled the axle right through the front steering block, bearings and all. Yokomo probably needs to beef up that area

SD option parts, black graphite chassis, alum. f/r arm mounts, alum. battery posts, graphite arms. these parts will definately beef up the current SD which in my opinion a little fragile..

yeh, during assembly i felt some of the front parts were little soft namely hub carriers, dog bones etc, i already felt they might be the liabilties during the race in the future , and you guys experiences comfirmed that..i am looking to get the graphite parts as soon as they become avaliable .

Hi guys. Greetings from Malta.

Ran another 5 packs last Saturday with no problems.

I ran the BD car first, with another 5 stock cars on the track, then ran 5 packs with the SD. The only basic set up differences were tyres. The BD was on Sorex 28, the SD has always run on Take Off CS27. Same Schumacher Grey insert in both sets.

In terms of speed I reckon the SD is a bit quicker. In terms of duration it scores hands down. In handling the BD car seemed more responsive.

I swapped tyres and ran the SD with the Sorex 28 and it became as responsive as the BD, possibly more. Interestingly my race time over 5 minutes was exactly the same, to the second, and my best lap was identical too, so I don't know what to say.

I need to try some radical changes now, just to see how it reacts. We race again Sunday and if I win I should clinch the championship. I think the car is well up to it.

I see the SD is making it's mark in international racing everywhere. At the Euros warm up Thomas Pumpler won with his new SD too.

Regards

Joe from sunny Malta.

How heavy are your SDs? My SD seems to be way too overweight at 1560gm with the bodyshell. Thanks.
