Default My first track run

I forgot to post about my first track run with my car. To say this handles good is an understatement. With my trusty old Chameleon I was able to keep up with the nitros in the infield. I was able to compare my car to 2 Xrays and a tc3 and it handled way better than the TC3 and about even with Xrays. I had a few bad crashes but nothing broke (nock on wood). The only thing that I can think of to make the car drive better is for me to get more experience.

Oh yeah, I was using the stock setup.

That was posted a page back, but is it a conversion, or just one persons car?

It's one person's car. It does look nice, but I would be skeptical about the offroad worthiness. Using the SSG, the chassis may flex too much to be up to the offroad jumps and stresses put on the car, especially on the rougher tracks used in the US. I'm not sure who's car that was. But I know for the World Champs Warmup race in Florida, Masami did use a shaft driven Yok. The car was fast, but it broke too easily (he didn't finish most of the races). Yokomo never took it back for the real race and instead settled on the MR4BC because it was a tougher car.
I never did see any pics of his car though.

this guy who owns planet rc.com which distributes Alex Racing etc. had one at my local club... he said there has only been about 5 made and he told me about that Masami had raced one etc. Now he didnt do that well with the car but he told me that he wasnt the best driver but he was just there to have fun, which is fair enough!

Nice to look at but i doubt it will ever be a car that we shall see racing competitivley

Why wouldn't they just modify MR4BC parts to work so it keeps the strength?

the mr4bc is a great 4wd car. I think the shaft driven yok was
just testing. Too bad masami and most of the Yok team from
japan missed the offroad worlds this year because they had
to run jmrc nats to qualify for the Nitro sedan worlds. The guys
running the mr4bc at the worlds were mostly AE drivers who
really did not have that much time with the car yet.

I wonder if the transmission would need to be beefed up any to run in off-road, or if it would work fine as is..

The only one I know are the Excel, but they're horribly expensive.

Besides, I personally found the stock ones to be very durable (I still use the same ones since I have the car, just switched them front/rear) and they're cheap.

That's true they are cheap...i was just being lazy...i thought there were some harder ones out there....i'll just keep an eye on them more often and replace them at the first sign of wear....instead of waiting till the main....

Shim them tighter if you need to...
