I've tried White Lightening and have had bad experiences. It covers the gears with a parafin coating that hardens into a goo and is pretty thick. It does make the drivetrain quieter, but also can make the gears actually bind a little as the hard goo gets stuck imbetween the gears. Maybe if you run it in it's ok or change the shimming, but from my experience White Lightening actually can bind the drivetrain.

Instead I use this stuff from Paragon (I think it's called Ultralon) that is really thin and dries onto the plastic of the gear. Anyways, I think it works better.

HPI Japan also sells a product called Microlon that works great too. They have two different types, one for metal and bearings and one for plastics.

I may have to try that UltraLon. It say's:
"Ultralon contains PTFE (Teflon), the slipperiest substance known to man. It
has been formulated to offer excellent lubricating qualities in even the
most dusty environments. Ultralon goes on as a fluid and dries to form a
lubrication barrier that will maximize lubricity on almost any moving part.
Guaranteed not to attract dust."

Garuanteed not to attract dust....hmmm may get some for my Web special since it has no sealed gear case.

I'll have to see if SoCal has any of that stuff next week, my drivetrains are always smooth, but I'm always looking for a way to make the car quieter
