any of u guys experience that the SD seems to wander right and left in the straights? any tips this has been trully a great car and i was able to manage to get my SD much quicker than my losi. and thats only the 2nd race with the car. having lots of problem keeping it straight though thats why my race times were quite inconsistent but in single race laps i managed to surpass my losi by quite a big margin

Default Wondering on the the straight...

Koya, I found that there was a bit of play on the the alum wheel hexes which i think caused the car to wonder from side to side. What i did was to shim the inside of the hubs/uprights before the 2 bearings that hold the axel (.1mm on the rear and .2mm on the front). Problem solved....my car tracks very straight!!
Hope this helps.

I had a bit of play in the wheel hexes as well, but never had a problem with the car not driving straight. How much camber are you running? If you have a lot of negitive camber, that is less contact area on the tires which will give much less straight line traction.

BTW, I have been looking for shims, but where can I get really thin shims online, want to dial in cars to be perfect, but it's hard to do when the only shims I can find are .5mm.

Default Randman,

Our LHS had them but are now out of stock. They come in a plastic case with about 6 different sized shims and each size come in .1 .2 .3mm. I'll find out where they orderd from and i'll let you know.

Cool, I'll definately want some.

I am gonna have to hold off on ordering the SD Black Carbon edition from R10 for a couple weeks, I was able to get a Barracuda R2 Web Special (only 1 of 100 made) which cost an arm and leg, so my SD stash got thrown into that car. I'm definately going to pick a SD Black Carbon up, hopefully within a couple weeks.

Randman, next time you go to Socal, stop by Tamiya America and cruise into customer service to order some shims (8AM-Noon, 1PM-4PM). They make shim kits for 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 10mm and whatever other sizes. They come with like 10 shims per size of .1mm .2mm and .3mm thickness I believe.

Part Numbers:
53585 3mm Shim Set
53586 4mm Shim Set
53587 5mm Shim Set
53588 10mm Shim Set

They're like 5 bucks a set but each set should cover you for a long time.

IF you still have wandering problems you might check out your servo as it might not be centering right or if it is not tight on the servo mounts it could move some. Yu could also have a tight ballend or you kingpins might be a little too tight and casue a little binding. Just some more things to check.

Randman that is a nice car you have coming. Very cool looking ride. How hard is it to get parts for that thing?

90% of the parts are from the regular R2, so they wont be a problem getting, the only hard thing will be the chassis, and that should last a while.

Hi guys. I haven't post any message here for a long time. I used to drive a TA03F before, but once I see the new Yo SD, I sold my TA03F with the hope up (carbon chassis: lower & upper, aluminum shocks, a Rooster ESC, n with few other parts). I got my SD few weeks ago from speedtech and just had my first test run indoor carpet today with my friends. However, After like around 3 laps (hitting on the wooden wall at the side of the car few times), the front-right steering block broken. And here are some of my SD pics and my Pro pics.
Does any of you guy know is there any aftermarket Steering block like Aluminum or Titanium steering block?
If so, does it preform better than the stock one?
Or is there any other setup I can try to help reduce the breakage or parts? Well, I am using the stock setup.
Thank you vey much, guys.
By the way, is the steering block and steering hub carry comparable to SD from the Pro or SP? Thanks.
What else I should buy to make my SD stronger? Please let me know the parts number too. Thank you very much.

Okay, back from the Nats. I sucked! haha. I couldn't get anything right all weekend. So continues my bad luck streak for 3weeks now! My friend ends up in the Stock Bmain while I was in the Cmain. Just couldn't get things right. I ended up goin back to my Region3 setup and it did alittle better for me. But I made the mistake of using a oneway for the main. All weekend everyone was using a spool. Not only Mod and Stock as well. I talk to Chris Toso very briefly. I felt as though I was bugging him haha. But he helped me alittle with using the car with the RaySpeed Springs which he was using all weekend. I did manage to scope out some of his setup for mod.

Anyways, seems Spools were/are the ticket out here. So I'll have to work on a setup for now.

Kentech, nice shock towers. I would really love something like those on my cars. Would like to see them availble sometime. Maybe Square would make them?

Well let me head out. Been a long long hot weekend....... Gotta drink some fluids!!!
