I have had no issues with using the 2.9 top deck. I just use a small file to shape the battery slots nice and easy until the batts fit nice under there. Not tight but too make sure they will move alittle.. My batteries also do not sit below the chassis either..

Mike

Ok!
Me and my friends have the Euro kits so maybe itīs a difference there. I had a look at Fischers and Sakkes cars at a big race a couple of weeks ago and it wasnīt a pretty sight. The batteries was forced into the cars and the heat shrink on the cells were scrubbed off in some places. The cars handled ok though.

Do the people having issues with the batteries fitting have individual cells heat shrunk/protected?

Just a thought.

The Euro-Spec chassis is 2.4mm. so the cells are a bit higher up compared to the 2.9 or 3.4. That might explain it.
Although I run the Euro-Spec also without any problems.
It is a snug fit, but no force needed to install the battery.

Maybe the latest dimensions of Cells used, or use of older cells (which expanded a bit), or as suggested an extra shrink, either per cell or per pack, still a lot of causes might fill that tiny bit of play there is (hidden )

good luck.

Come on matey, think a bit here. It's the inside faces that don't change no matter what thickness the chassis is !!

Exactly Victor, it does not matter how thick or thin the chassis or top deck is, the space between the two stay the same. If there is some fit issues it may come from different tolerances in over all bulkhead height.

Wait, last I checked the top deck on the PHI mounted from the bottom...so wouldn't the top deck thickness count????

Chassis thickness does matter.

If you have a 2.9 mil chassis the batteries sit roughly 2.6 mil in the chassis.
Now if you run the 2 mil asphalt chassis the batteries sit roughly 1.6 mil in the chassis. The top deck is still mounted the same height above the chassis, this is where the tight fit comes in.....when you lose the extra mil of depth for the batteries to sink into.

get it....got it.....good

Yes it does mount on the bottom, I do stand corrected. Why did they put it on the bottom.
It does not matter I am still going to get one.
