...another thing I keep reading on this post is "Buy New Batteries"

I'll have to BUY NEW BATTERIES.. "The Industry Standard is 6 cell, and I'll have to BUY new batteries" "I don't race 4 cell now, and I'll have to buy NEW batteries" "I don't want to have to BUY new BATTERIES"

"I'm not going to pay $79.00 for a 4 cell pack, when I can buy a 6 cell pack, and why do I want to BUY NEW BATTERIES"

over and over and over and over and over...

So, YOU Didn't buy NEW batteries when 3300's came out?
So, YOU Didn't buy NEW batteries when 3800's came out?
So, YOU Didn't buy NEW batteries when 4200 SHV's came out?
So, YOU Didn't buy NEW batteries when 4200 WC's came out?
So, YOU Won't buy NEW batteries when 4600's come out?

...DO I SOUND LIKE A BROKEN RECORD YET? So DO SOOO Many of these arguements

Take 2 of the 6 cell packs you have (They are both probably matched pretty dang close RIGHT?) Turn them into 3 4 cell packs...wow that was hard and took, er um what 2 minutes?

GUYS Testing, go up the number equal to the RPM drop. Which would be what..33% I think that would be closer to 10-13 teeth on a XRAY T2, don't be afraid to GEAR UP...in the past I've seen guys gear up 4 or 5 teeth thinking that would be enough..and they were NOT even close.

i think going 4 cell for all classe`s proberly be a blessing in disguise
speed differences between all 3 classe`s will be the same
but the 4 cell 27t will be good for weeding out the `Hoggers` who who stay in 27t when they are better then that

same as 19t spec the really fast guy`s will go up to Mod class
And hey presto we have the blue Riband class back again ,nice & healthy

just wish the BRCA org would do the same with 5 cell for all 3 classe`s , But it looks likely we will have 5 classes next year ,so the quality of the field will be even more thin on the ground
ie;;a D finalist @club might be in the A nat running 4 cell brushless/7t brushed class in with the 19t 6 cell guy`s

if they do all 3 classes from club level upto Nats this will good for all inc; clubs
remember the tracks are not getting any bigger ,even the new ones over here are staying small layout (land is expensive) & the indoor venues are just as small as they were 6 years ago
But the cars have gotten to fast for these venues

A nice level playing field that all drivers know & understand , no complications

Just remember
Humans don`t like change ,they rather stay with what they know & trust atleast that way the `Rut` they are stuck in they know how far the water rises to survive ,but if they jump into another one
Who know`s ??? only one way to find out for sure ,Just do it ,if you don`t like it change back or go side ways
we not going to find anything out for sure unless `WE` try it first
then slag it off after if it doesn`t work

Default Speading classes thin can't be good for the hobby either.

With all the different kits and classes? There will be two to a heat.

Im not really sure what will happen here... this is truely a double edged sword.

on the club level- little bit lower costs to get new people into the sport/or cars are too slow in stock format now and people will not be interested.

on the national level- mod drivers are going to use the packs for one run and then toss em/be a bit cheaper for the top tier club guy to consider attending the race.

i think this is going to be the biggest shake up in on-road in a long time

i think for national level maybe limit the to 3pack of batteries per racer/car (decrease cost) will allow more balance equallity whitin racers instead of alowing unlimited packs that will alow them 1 pack per heat and toss

Now we're talking about limiting the # of packs you can bring to a race? Yeah Roar, great rule you got there....

i think changing number of cells is a big enough shock to racers with out hitting them with limiting them to how many packs aswell

anyway ,they would just use new pack`s for every meeting

But is doesn`t make good reading when the top drivers are saying (japan race just gone) that batts are 1 run wonders

disclaimer
only thought`s

4 cell is a joke and today's test proved it. Mod may be able to drop a turn in motors to make up the 2 cell loss but stock and 19 turn suffered drastically. Harshguy will post all of the lap time info when he gets it all done but IMO it's a JOKE!!!

careful, according to an earlier post by Danny/ smc, (somewhere)
those packs were dumped hard during the race and effectively damaged / lost runtime. hence one run wonders.

Geeessssss......

leave the stock class`s to the beginners`s and let them win for a change ....
-No boubt, how 'bout if your sponsored at any regional/national you HAVE to race Mod. Let new guys (without sponsors) race stock, so as to not get discouraged by the sandbaggers right off the bat. i would rather place third in a pro class than first in an amateur class anyday. Sandbaggers SUCK!

OK guys, after a day of testing at the track ...here's the "best times":

6 cell stock - 6.77 FDR - Fast Heat 18 5:08 - Fast Lap 16.1
4 cell stock - 5.29 FDR - Fast Heat 17 5:14 - Fast Lap 17.8

6 cell 19T - 6.56 FDR - Fast Heat 19 5:13 - Fast Lap 15.7
4 cell 19T - 4.99 FDR - Fast Heat 18 5:17 - Fast Lap 16.2

6 cell Brushless (Novak 4300) - 5.46 FDR - Fast Heat 19 5:05 - Fast Lap 15.4

...didn't have a big enough pinion/small enough spur to get the FDR I needed for a 4 cell.

Quite literally 4 cell 19T felt like 6 cell stock, 6 cell stock was just painfully slow *if* this rule was to go into place, I know I personally would not want to run 4 cell stock period. Another thing to add, I realized as we were running this excersise, that my lightbulb discharge jig would not work with the 4 cell pack as it has a 5.4 cutoff box on it, and my spintech would not work on it either.

HarshGuy

It seem you have prooved what a lot of people are saying.
4 cell is slower and takes a lot more out of cells.

The thing is people want to go fast and will do what they can to achieve this. Thats why we get motors and speedos packing up. Using less cells will only help for a short time until racers are pushing things to the limits and beyond with 4 cell. So I think reducung the cells will only put the problem on hold so such a major change is just daft.
