A month on and still no news. Anyone have any idea when it will be out? Has anyone actually managed to get their hands on one yet?

Skill:
just to be awkward like Ian, got my hands on the display one at the Worlds in Italy back in June which was obviously when Spash & Andy did a smash n grab on the honours. I dunno if they'd displayed the radio before then, it was certainly the first i'd heard of it (although i'd taken the year out and hadnt given much interest to RC then, despite somehow ending up at the worlds as a spectator!)

I'll definately be on the look out for these, thinking its time to move onto the 2.4ghz range and really theres only 1 manufacture i'd consider for a radio.
Apparently its possible to hardwire mod the existing Vantage radios to take the spectrum modules, i seem to recall it being something helgar could do, but it wasnt like you could switch module back to 40mhz and it possibly may have made the warranty useless.

Hey Paul, thanks for the reply,

Yes Helger can convert the existing Vantage II to be Spektrum compatible, but it involves cutting up the case quite a lot and fitting the module in the back of the transmitter. As far as I'm aware you're right, you can't then go back to 40mhz, but it will be the Helios module if you can.

Anyway this is the same reason why I am taking the plunge for the Universe Esprit III, I already have my Spektrum system waiting!

They should be shipping soon. The hold up was the CE approval.

Yeah, thats pretty much the only reason im looking at the radio, thinking it might be time to move into the 2.4ghz range. Absolutely nothing wrong with my radio, but i'll be considering grabbing one once a fairly solid street price is known.

Tell you something though, the fact that the units come with a module a large percentage of owners simply dont want, exactly what is the difference between buying a US 27FM or 75FM version over a EU 40FM version? The module is of no use, but im willing to bet its cheaper to buy from HK or US than the UK. I'll offset the cost of having to buy an additional module by purchasing overseas, had it been available module-less for 2.4ghz use then i'd have picked one up straight away from my local, but going overseas i bet i'd pay the same and be all set on 2.4ghz.

Paul- Your plan sounds great, but good luck. UK will be getting most of the production run.

There will be no 75MHz made, only 27MHz and 40MHz will be available.

Well, Ithink the CE matter had been solved and there's the reasons why the product was release so late.

I was in japan last year and heard that the Universe will be release in Jpn Dec'200o but unfortunately it was delay unitl april. I've placed an order with RC Champ and hopefully to receive it by this week.

Their price are great too.

Yeah, i had noticed there was no PID for a 75mhz version, i guess there just isnt the same demand for it in the US and with 2.4ghz so popular thats still perfectly viable to the US market.

Im pretty sure i could get hold of one of the first 27's in the US but theres a couple of things i'd looking to purchase first, its purely a impulse buy than essential, your earlier models are so bomb-proof its not such an issue

Im looking forward to reading the reviews on it when it hits the market

I think you'll find that the Spektrum module/receiver sets are dirt cheap from HK. I bought mine a while back now for about 90, but Precision are now doing a package with the micro rx instead of the normal Pro rx for about 10 more which I'd have thought is well worth getting.

Will be getting my transmitter from my LHS as I work there so get things a little cheaper

Does anyone know if this radio can be configured so the left thumb can be used for steering and the right thumb for throttle/brake?
