Default Super Brain 977 Pro Charger

What are the pros and cons of said charger?

My 969 pro has been a good charger until the blue buttons intermittently stop working.

MRC has offered to upgrade me to the 977 pro for a nominal fee, with re-designed buttons.

Any thoughts?

I sent mine in and my 969 was upgraded to the 977. Just charges at a higher rate, discharges a bit higher and breaks the same.

Is it worth the $35 to use it until it breaks like the old ones, or does it break outside of the 1 year warranty period?

Thx

I've had both the 969 & 977. My buttons on the 969 got hard to use, but I cleaned it out with some electronics cleaner and it worked fine. I then sold it to buy the 977 since it has a 10 amp power supply instead of the 5 amp one that the 969 comes with. This way you can charge two of your Nimh/NiCad packs at 5 amps at the same time. I also noticed that the 977 has a new lipo setting to safely charge lipo packs. If your out of parameters on the 969 while charging lipos, you can damage the cells. The buttons do work better on the 977. If they are only going to charge you $35.00, then I would suggest switching your chargers. I wouldn't have gotten rid of my 977 if I didn't find such a great deal on my ICE charger.

I pulled the case apart, the buttons I have are completely sealed in a small black box that is soldered directly to the circuit board. Do you mean to spray the button boxes and hope the spray gets into the sealed box?

Yup, that's exactly what my friend did. After that, his buttons to worked fine.
