Default Calling Electronic engineer for help on M8 radio

I have a Airtronics M8. too bad there is no power to it..everything black out... I am broke at the momment to buy a new radio and I cant wait too long to send the radio for repair. .
I have a electronic background and I can repair the radio by myself..
I've identify the culpurit... one of the device ( I think a surface mount fuse) has gone bad thus no power from the battery to the main circuit.. Since the device has only a number 12 printed on it... I have difficulty to know what is the ratings...

here is the description.. small SMD device, white body (maybe ceramic) and has a number 12 printed on it.

Please... I need help from all of you guys here....

Post Fuse

I believe you have blown the fuse. That little white looking Surface Mount Device is indeed a Fuse. I do not remember right off hand what it actually is value wise. I blew mine and was lucky enough to have a good engineering department behind me to help figure out what to replace it with. I have some extras if you are interested let me know and I can mail a couple to you.

Later,

I think I had the same problem that your discribing. I left my display function all night and it blew the fuse (because it overheated). I sent it to Airtronics and they repaired it, only cost me $24.00 (that's part, labor and shipping).

I have the receipt at home, I'll tell you what the item was that they replaced with all the specs.

Just a thought...There is a lithium battery in the M8 that retains all the settings....when that battery goes bad, it loses ALL the display functions....acts as if theres no power to the radio. You get no display at all. For what its worth.....the batterys only last a couple of years, but they are replacable. I live close to Airtronics and have them replace it every year or so (my radio gets LOTS of use). Good luck, and let us know what it turns out to be.
