Airtight Storage for Foam Tires
 

Guys,

I have been stiking out trying to find a large airtight plastic container. Target/Walmart only have bins that are not aittight and the food containers are to small. I need a good size box for assorted nitro 1/10, 1/8, and assorted 1/12, 1/10 electric foams.

Well, I think those resealable tennis ball tubes can work... for 1/10 and 1/12 at least..

I am not sure it is a complete airtight....but I use the "ziplock" brand "sandwich" size ziplock bag for 1 full set of TC tires (rubbers or foams). 1 bag per set...it fit perfectly, seal tight, air proof and water proof, then store these bags into some container, since the sandwich bag should do the air tight job already, the storage bin does not need to be completely seal tight kind...

Actually, what I did is overkill....it just looks better then putting them into the original tire box......kinda like "all show no go" thing... :D

I also use Glad Zip Lock Bags. They have them in different sizes and you can stack them in a container. They will be dry and ready for use no matter how long the storage. You can also write tire info with a sharpie to keep everything organized. :nod:

Ive been using the Crystal Light drink mix tubes. They fit 4-6 tires perfectly inside them. They only cost about $2.50 at WalMart. Not sure if they are hermetically sealed or airtight or whatever but they seem to be good enough. Then you can stack these in a larger box.

I use the crystal light containers also , they are a perfect fit for foams or rubbers and fit perfect in a TC box. If you wipe your rubbers off with buggy grip and put them in, when you go to use them they feel almost like new. Seems to keep the cleaner/softner from drying out. Get the Country time lemonade ones from Walmart, mix the lemonade with some Grey Goose and enjoy a good drink while packing up all your tires! :smile:

These are absolutelty THE BEST tire storage containers I have ever used. You can buy them online, in a variety of sizes and colors, and yes, they are airtight. You must however, order the 'non-slit' style caps in order to have an airtight fit.

In the past, I've used Pringles cans. They'll fit 2 sets of tires inside. No airtight seal though so throw the tires into a zip lock bag first before throwing them into the can

if you wife has a food saver vacume sealer, you can get one of their containers. don't seal the tires in a bag because it will deform the foam

what size containers are good for the foams?

The 2.75 x 5 should fit, the 2" are too small.

Any ideas for a airtight box 2'x2' I have a ton of tire that need to be stored over the winter. I use bag ect temp storage but bags for 40 sets is to much hassle.
