Default RC Racing TV - Watch online (just for you Americans)

Someone has posted the first episode of RC Racing onto the web

So you guys over the pond can now see it!

http://video.google.nl/videoplay?doc...81053741&hl=nl

We'd be interestead in your comments and feedback.

Obviously this is pretty low res (and with an odd aspect ratio) - however there will be a DVD of the best of the series coming out in early December, which will be a region free disc.

that was great! Our RC shows could learn something from that. Awesome coverage of the Worlds!

I'll be the critic.

Was this show for beginners or for people in the hobby?

I know it's compressed for web, but the action seemed blurry and blownout, with some not so great editting. It was very jumpy, going from multiple classes and not really having any segway to the next.

Sort of dry and a little boring.

Great that somethings on TV, but I think it needs some polishing on story lines to keep people interested.

I think some of that may be due to how Google Video compresses stuff, but yea, what Derek said.

The problem I see, and the feedback I get from the DVDs I've made, is that a lot of racers want to just see straight up race footage, because it's interesting to them. But unfortunately that represents 2% of the hobby and is not very interesting to somebody tuning in the first time. It's why shows like Inside RC do not focus on the racing and probably never really will.

Think about it: how many people are fans of NASCAR or Formula 1 because of the racing itself, versus how many follow the personalities and the soap opera behind it? Would you want Michael Schumacher to win if you knew nothing about him, and just saw his car? Do you like Jeff Gordon because you feel the technical superiority of the suspension design of his car, or do you like him because you know who he is, the team he's with, etc etc. You want these guys to win on the weekend because you hear about them and their teams all week (or month, or year) long.

Now apply that to RC. How attractive is it to watch if you know nothing about the drivers, personalities, drama, etc. That's the kind of stuff that makes for good TV.

This country does not take racing like the rest of the world does, remember that... We will never have RC racing televised like that....

It was pretty good, although no Anna Vurtis (she's got some nice assets.) It actually looked better when I switched my TV onto the PC connection and watched it in 50"!

I thought that was great. It would be great to see some more racing action, but I understand. Bringing a little bit of everything to the viewer, kind of like MotorWeek TV. Can't wait to have something like that here.

I loved the racing with commentary in the style of full size racing commentary. Yes its a step back from the full on stuff we get with jokes and technical stuff, but its more accessible to average people.

I really enjoyed it. If I was trying to explain to someone why I like this hobby/sport so much I might just show them this video...

Keep posting these!

I thought it was pretty cool. It's nice to see R/C slowly making it into the main stream. I like that it had a little bit of everything (well not everything), but some technical info for people new to R/C on how the cars work, some good racing action, and some mini reviews. I thought overall it was a good show. Yes the quality of the imaging could be better, but I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work, and keep posting them. Thanks.

Cool video. I watched the whole thing, and I have a short attention span. That race was awesome!
