If you check out my blog I have a really nice story about my first trip to the local track near my house. The guys there are unbelievable. Made me wish I had brought my TC3 and 12L3 home with me. if you want to read the entry the link is http://bjtheindyracer.blogspot.com

Default stage fright!!!

Shaking legs......sweaty hands......big stupid grin.....this is how I stumbled off the drivers stand after last Fridays first qualifier!!!! Amazing how a 36 year old man can act like he's 10!!! Anyways the guys at the club are all amazing...everyone helps....when your new there is so much to learn!!!! I didn't sleep much Thursday night.....too excited!!......didn't sleep Friday night after the races......too excited!!! Maybe I need to see a shrink........if only his office was at the hobby shop!!!! lol!!

That is soo true. I am 38 and was always wondering, omg I am retarded to get this worked up over a toy What a great hobby!!!!

the only thing i get nervious is if my set up on my car would perform well or not.. specially on a race. sometimes i made a setup adjustment before the race and sometimes the adjustment was a little too more than what i want then i would be oversteering or understeering on the race... everytime i take a step on the driver stand i would pray that hop my set up is good..

Man, it is so cool to see others in the same boat!

I am 33, and I have been wondering if I will be some lone old dude racing against a bunch of kids brought to the track by parents my age!! But, I have always wanted to race, and I only recently decided to give it a serious go!

I sure hope I find a local track that is as cool and receptive to newbies that you guys have, but this post is really inspiring me to just drive to a track and give it a go!

Move to Omaha!!!! We can assist with relocation for a new racer
Good luck to ya and I hope you find a great area track like Hobbytown in Omaha, NE !!! It is a top notch establishment!!!!

Funny you should mention that. I have a masters degree in sport psychology and I'm currently working on my phd. I just started racing at the club level this past summer, and the majority of the mental techniques and skills we use with athletes also apply nicely to rc racing. We deal a lot with nerves, chocking, and how to stay focused under stress...those types of issues.
