the only thing i get nervious is if my set up on my car would perform well or not.. specially on a race. sometimes i made a setup adjustment before the race and sometimes the adjustment was a little too more than what i want then i would be oversteering or understeering on the race... everytime i take a step on the driver stand i would pray that hop my set up is good..

Man, it is so cool to see others in the same boat!

I am 33, and I have been wondering if I will be some lone old dude racing against a bunch of kids brought to the track by parents my age!! But, I have always wanted to race, and I only recently decided to give it a serious go!

I sure hope I find a local track that is as cool and receptive to newbies that you guys have, but this post is really inspiring me to just drive to a track and give it a go!

Funny you should mention that. I have a masters degree in sport psychology and I'm currently working on my phd. I just started racing at the club level this past summer, and the majority of the mental techniques and skills we use with athletes also apply nicely to rc racing. We deal a lot with nerves, chocking, and how to stay focused under stress...those types of issues.
