Default Xray T1 FK'04

Hey guys,

a few questions to ask about an Xray T1 FK04.

-can u put a heatsink on it?
-does it matter if the belt is touching the motor?
-is it possible to have a 6 side by side pack and still have good weight distribution?

Not easily because of where the motor is. I Shoo Gooed a small Novak fan to the chassis so that it blew on the endbell of the motor to keep it cool. I think Cool Cans may have have a fan mount for this car.

No.


-is it possible to have a 6 side by side pack and still have good weight distribution?

Not unless you are running oval. Because the motor is centralized there is nothing to help the electronics offset the weight of the batteries.

here is a pic of my fk04 with a heatsink.

think about keeping this car for when modified becomes 4 cell slap some t2 arms and cvd's on it and it should be a revived car

the heatsink is a el cheapo brand which i polished up packaged sometimes as "lazer" or "eagle racing" its a 6 fin heatsink which i cut down to 4 to fit ont he car. i held it in position with a long screw that goes through the other side of the baulkhead which has a hole in it and secured the screw with a nut.

Yes you can fit one on the left rear bulkhead so that it blows air on the endbell.

Default belt rub?

TomB.....in your picture it looks like your running a 48pitch spur. Does this help with the belt rub on the motor?......I found a 48 pitch 96 tooth spur....and it has a larger diameter than the 64 pitch that everyone runs up here....I haven't picked it up yet but this may help?

I've got 6 cells on the right side of the chassis and by the time I've added 1 1/2 oz ballast to get to legal min, then there's no significant weight bias. Certainly no more than when the car's set up 3x3 style.

I did have to modify the servo cos I have all elex on the left. It took shortening the arm to the pushrod from the servo. This makes the steering a little more exitable, but still within the thresthold on sanity.

This ol' car is still wikkid fast, but mostly fun playing block to the T2s and 007z.

Victor....do you have pics of how you set your car up? Did you have a solution to the belt rub on the motor? Any help would be great!!

Roy, in most cases the belt only touches the motor when at rest, not while moving. You can check the motor to see if it leaves a mark.
The 96/48 spur is about a 128 in 64 pitch. If you were using116/29 then 96/24 would be about the same gearing wise.
If you want to use a fan I can show you on Friday. It reduces motor temperature between 20 to 30 * F.

Big Spur, Big Pinion...... no, Bigger Pinion; what ever it takes to get the motor as low as possible is my starting point.

I'll post some snaps to night.
