Default 12th Scale Alive and Well again!!!

hey all,

Did you all notice the number of 12th scale entries at Vegas this year? And it is rumored that many were turned away in lieu of TC (5 minute heats vs 8 minutes). Also, look at the entries for the Halloween Classic this weekend! 65 stock 12th scale entries vs. 85 stock TC entries!! Pretty close.

All this talk about 4-cell touring, longer races, lighter cars, high cost of kits and endless chassis development, the alternative (though NOT the answer) has always been right here in front of us!!! The lt. wt. awesome handlng, lower cost, 4-cell pan car.

LONG LIVE 12th Scale!!!

pretty much the same thing out here in Omaha so far this indoor season, 1/12 has had as good or better turnouts for racing.

1/12 is one of the oldest form of RC racing. Over the years it's popularity has gone up and down, sometimes almost dieing out, then other times it's flourishing.

Personally I love running 1/12, it teachs me so much about driving and throttle control.

The 1/12 class at IIC this year was huge, they got so much interest they increased the cap on the number of entries.

The 10L2 and such or the 190mm 10th scale pan cars? Great news though.

I enjoy 12th scale much more than TC these days... I'll occasionally run my L3T with the TC's but my Xray has become very neglected....

It's not hard to figure out why 1/12 scale is gaining popularity when it costs half as much to run over a touring car.

$400+ touring cars are killing the hobby.

I still like driving, racing TC's-believe me. Stock, 19t, Mod-I love it all. but 12th scale has been my favorite and will always be.

I think with all the bitching gong on these days (myself included) about the rapid chnages and cost to be competitive in TC, 12th just seems to be getting more and more entries at club and big race level.

It just makes sense!!

I think the original cap was 40 which was very quickly filled so they raised to around 60. but at some point they still had to turn away entries.

The introduction of a LiPo/SS4300 sedan class locally has sort of gutted 1/12th scale. There's still a few guys, but everybody is pretty excited about the sedan class right now. The belief that you need a $400 sedan to be competitive in club racing, even fast club racing is a fallacy. There's plenty of guys doing well with the TA05, T2R, etc.
