Mod motor question.
I am new to the TC racing world. I race indoor carpet. Tight technical track. I am currently running stock class. I want to switch to mod class. On my track usally the best mod guys are only 1 to 2 laps faster then the best stock guys, depending on the layout. Here is my problem. I have decent batts as far as runtime is concerned. I have 2400 nicads. They lack the punch that the top guys have in stock class. We race 5 mins. What turn motor could I use to stay competitive with the mods guys, but still have enough run time to make the 5 mins? Obviously I can't use 10, 12, 13 turn motors. What motors could I use, specific winds, and brands if you could.
Oh yeah, when I discharge my 2400's right after charging, with a 10 bulb discharger. It takes 6:40 to 7:00 mins. until the deans black box cuts them off. I know this is proably a very stupid question to most of you experienced guys. So please just bare with me. LOL |
FYI...At the Novak race last year at Trackside in Milwaukee the Associated camp was running 2400's with a 12 turn and making 5 minutes without a problem. This race was a 12 turn no lower modified motor limit. Just some food for thought.

I have run 10x3 and made 5 minutes with my 2400's no problem, but my 2400's are pretty good

I've seen top level racers run 7x3 with 3000 for 5 mins!! You should be fine with say a 10 - 13 turn motor. I run a 13x2 with 2400, and get around 5 and a half mins on run time. I use Fantom 2400's.

im currently running either an 11x3 or 9x3 chrome touring modified. i make about 6+min on the 11x3 and 5+min on the 9x3. i charge my unmatched sanyo 3000s at 3 amps for 2400+ sec. if i lower my amp rate to 2 or 2.5 amps, do you guys think my runtime increase? if yes, by how many much? ill be using the same gearing. on the other hand, if i decrease the charge rate, will performance suffer - less punch and slower top speed?

yea i make 5 mins. I'm thinking of getting an 11 or 12 t now because ive cut my 13 too many times. I made about 6 mins with my 2000's with a 13 triple and 115/32 gearing
