Default Motor Question

Is it ok to change comms from one motor to another if they are both the same type of motor?

Perfectly okay. Just remember to recenter the comm in the new can

washers at both ends of the comm. Some armatures need more or less than others to get the comm centered in the magnetic field. I'll find a link to explain it

He's talking about re-shimming the comm. This done by placing small shimms to top and bottom sides of the comm on the shaft in order to keep the comm centered correctly in the magnetic field of the can. You want it wiggle up and down a small amount so it spins free.
