we are serious race in hong kong and we use 4200mah batt.
I lost 3 esc for half year(they did not burn but lost punch) I never over gear and thermo shut down esc....

I changed to GTB BL 4.5R few months ago and it still happen.....(esc fet degrade lost punch)

some racer said we should not run a complete pack, should stop at 5 mins.
is it true? I think the esc manufacturor should do something on it. I think it is ridiculous.......cheating the customer......

Well the Mamba Max ESC I have had hasn't burned up fets or even thermo'd it..

It can be over geared and under geared and it just won't thermo..
But then there will those who will try....LOL
But with the 4200 mine hasn't had a problem..Ran it for 8 minutes with out a problem..

Here in Manila, most people use 4200 batteries. DC matched, SMC matched, SHV, and loose cells. But nobody has ever encountered such a problem as yours. I and most HPI/HB car owners use KO Propo VFS-1 ESC, and we we've never experienced any problems such as loosing punch or frying the ESC due to 4200s.

Check your cells or your charger. The defect could be in the batteries that you purchased.

it's really strange to see what happenned to you.but in related with "lost punch" is it possible if the pack is become weaker after over 5 times cycle so you feel just lost the punch ?
