Then why mention it at all?

If you are curious as to what Fred replied me, then email Fred the same question, I'm sure you'll get the same answer as I did.

My email w/ Fred is between me and him, I've never asked Fred if it's ok to post his reply out in the public, that's just a simple respect to his email privacy.

As to why mention it? I think as voters, we all deserve to know the in's and out's, right?

Too bad Eddie, you got my vote. I have seen a few guys that were voting for Carl, but I haven't seen anyone even mention Mikes name. Hell, I hadn't heard of him until I seen his name on the ballot. Kind hoping for Carl if EddieO didn't get it. Gee, I wonder how many ballots got lost in the mail (seriously)

I do know of one person that voted for Mike in Florida- it wasn't me ! At least that's what I was told by the voter. The fact is noboby votes- the internet is for complaining .You want to change ROAR, they had it very simple this year- download the form and put a .39 cent stamp on it . I guess that is to much trouble for the vast majority of the ROAR members! You want to win a election in ROAR there is only one way- take a stack of ballots to a ROAR racer get the members to fill it out then and there and send it in to ROAR.Sure they say you can't do that but it has been done!
You can complain all you want here but it you didn't take the time and spend 39 cents to voice your opinion it's too bad- maybe next time.

ROAR needs electronic voting capabilites in order to improve Voter turnout. Would have been nice if the administration have gotten it in place for the 2006 election...lets see how long it takes going forward

I voted.....but to be honest.....I would not join ROAR if it were not required to enter the 2 big races(nitro) a year that I do run in. I have been a ROAR member since 1993.....missed maybe 2 years in that time.....but again if it were not required by the track that runs the 2 nitro races that I attend....I would not be in ROAR. Many clubs run races that do not require ROAR menbership. While I support ROAR in what they do.....it seems like you can't please all of the people all of the time for all of the issues and all of the classes. Electric racers complain about a president that comes witha nitro background.....it would be the other way around if tables were reversed. Why not have 2 presidents......one for electric and one for nitro. Just a thought. I voted.......I say if you don't bother to vote.....don't complain.

Respond to you both at the same time. We are working on it right now. It didnt happen for this election but will be ready in the next little while. Something that we are working on is making sure it is secure and fool proof. With it going online we need to make sure no funny business happens. Things will be recorded to make sure of this. A few different things need to come together to make this happen. I am working on them.

This has been in the works for a few years now. Must be a really tight security system...

I would much rather see an independant accounting firm responsible for counting the votes than to see ROAR working on an online voting system. Maybe there is an accounting firm that can handle both?

What has to be worked on for any publicly involved election within ROAR, is a means whereby all candidates can have honourable access to the various address' of all the membership. We can never expect the membership to respond with any enthusiasm to the initial statements published in Rev Up. And I believe we are only fooling ourselves believing that this site has a large readership. If you do some N dimensional calcs on postings here, you'll end up seeing there is less people responding than voted ( just my mathamatical feeling here you understand)

This is a political position. We need to treat it as such. It takes a whole lot more to shake the apathy from the voting body. It takes a whole lot more to bring something back from the grave.

It takes time and money and pubicity and postage to make change.

Did any of the candidates reach out beyond these sites ? Did the entrenched use our lack of interest and phinagle the vote for their benefit ?

There wasn't really much cause in the campaign to create an effect.

So what next ?

Hey Corey,

Perhaps the simple solutions is for the voters to imput their ROAR membership number along with their vote. If there is duplication through both votes out.

This way if someone decides to get cute and falsify the votes in favor of one candidate, they only hurt that one persons vote.

If I can order online pretty securely, I would think we could handle making a "toy car racing president" election online securely ?!? There is a lot at stake but surely not more than what we risk when placing orders on the WWW.

With however many 10's of thousands online just rctech alone... I would think ROAR could have a great deal more $$$ coming in to do things by having online voting and advertising that along with the annual membership signup, links, etc. Look at how many people pay for their special memberships online here ?
