Why are 19 turns faster?

how come 19 turn motors have less rpm that the stock motors, but the 19t go faster?

what gearing could i use for a fantom 19t motor and also what brushes to use as well?

Because they make more torque, and torque is what accelerates the car.

And who says that 19T has less RPM than stock? On the same Turbo Dyno, my cobalt stockers hit 23-25K RPM, while my KD's hit 27-28K RPM. And my KD's are geared for a rollout of ~1.06-1.110, while my stockers are rolled out at ~1.12-1.16.

see you are rolling out higher w/ your KD, you can do this because it creates more torque therefore can pull a higher gear ratio. this causes top speed to increase.

also what voltage are you dyno'ing the motors? just curious

he is rolled out lower with the KD. rollout is how far the car moves for 1 revolution of the motor, 1.06 inches per revolution with the kd, 1.12-1.16 inches per revolution with the stock motor

the rpm i have on my fantom 19t is 21,000 rpm@5v, so at 7v is would be just under 30,000 rpm.

Horsepower is calculated as RPM multiplied by Torque.

Revs are nothing without torque to push them

In 1/12th scale I'm rolled out around 1.7" for stock motors and 2.0" for 19 turns. It's crazy how much high you can gear a 19 turn.

low end grunt is everything. look at diesel engines low rpm, high hp
geared correctly torque will smoke rpm based motors and much easer to drive smooth
also look at motor cycles
once in the golden days of 2 stroke motors you had to be at 8000+ rpm to 20,000 to be in the powerband
ya i know thats a little high but some gp 125's do 20,000+rpm
now its all 4 stroke mostly
lower rpm tons of torque alot easer to rip the track with.

so torque is very much a key over looked in racing because everbody loves the sound of a motor all spooled up!
its the quiet guys to worry about! ;) ;)
