nah, no video. IF we do it again, we will certainly take some video, though!!!!

And, ummm, not a Reedy motor, unfortunately....

The setup in the OFF-THE-SHELF 97.6mph TC3 was a Reedy setup.... Only a 10 turn motor, too!

Hi guys. Greetings from Malta.

Interesting posts here. What cars were those showing 150mph plus?

Fastest I've been on land was about 175 mph but that was in 1971 driving a Ford GT40. We were planning on doing a couple of World championship Long distance sportscar races with it, but unfortunately the owner sold it before we had done anything. Pity. But I did drive it quite a bit, and did quite a bit of work on it.

A recent trip on European mainland with my Suzuki Bandit 1200 gave me an opportunity to wind it up a bit too. With wife and cases full of belongings we travelled the Autostradas of Italy never dropping below 160kph and topping 200kph on occasion. I know the bike will do much more than that - factory quoted top speed 250kph - but at 56, and with my wife on board, a bit of prudence was called for! But it was fun all the same.

Getting back to RC, I have recently been playing with a 1/10th dragster. With 10 cells and a 10 turn motor we have done a full scale 1/4 mile - that's 440 yards - on a real drag strip in 14 seconds. I am now playing with a 2 speed gearbox to try and get more top speed.

Son Josh drives the RC car from the passenger seat of an MGF sportscar which I drive. We leave the start together and the dragster pulls away for the first 300 yards, then starts running out of steam, but it is still ahead at the finish.

The reason Josh has to drive it from the passenger seat of an open sports car is of course visibility. It's too small to see at more than a couple of hundred yards. great fun again.

Regards

Joe from sunny Malta.

The motor in it was an Aveox brushless.

Heya, actually jamingtrack7 is from a CLK430, hence the 149mph limit. My E55 tops out at 155 (electronically governed) but I haven't gotten near that, yet.

Tony,
I heard that speed run was done at Irwindale. How was the radio signal? I'd think on a track that size, they may have run into some radio interference. I also hear that not only was the car spinning the wheels but that he was running out of room coming out of every corner and would have like a wider track.
