Gearing is NICE!
i have an electric 4 tec with the following hop ups:
aluminum rear axle stubs deans plugs reedy shocks f/r 25 tooth pinion well i got my pinion gear yesterday at a race with my friend who owed me money cause i bought him lunch. So today i took out my motor because i wanted a new one. i went to my lhs and they didnt have a faster motor. so i just got another part i needed. then wen i went to put the motor back i accidentally put the pinion a little bit closer to the spur. when i ran it WOO HOO what a difference, the car went at least 2 mph faster or more. im so happy, the only bad part is that the motor gets a tad hotter now. is there a way to keep the speed but lower the overheating? |
Let me get this right; you put the pinion closer to the spur and GAINED speed? That would be a world first!
|
why?
|
Think! Just HOW what you gain speed from positioning the pinion closer to the spur? Where would the speed come from? All you get from moving it closer is a hotter motor and a worn out spur from the added drag. Too close and the spur will strip + the motor will eventually blow up.

O SHIZ! then wat can i do to gain speed the safe way? (other than buying another motor which i will do soon anyways)
|
The easiest way is to gear up, but keep an eye on the motor temp.
Other than that there's a faster motor and new batteries. What do you currently have? |
ty for feedback, i run a 20 turn traxxas stinger motor with a 25 tooth pinion
