Default Do we need an RC "Car of Tomorrow" class?

So reading about NASCARs "car of tomorrow" and also reading about ROAR approvals got me thinking. Does RC need a "Car of Tomorrow' class? Now I already think electric on-road has too many classes but it seems RC is going in two different directions. One one side you have the brushed motor \ nimh side and on the other you have the brushless \ lipo side. Then you also have the 4 cells guys and 23T motors.

So my question is should ROAR get all the major players together and start working on a standard for the "car of tomorrow" in RC? I realize that isnt really the place of ROAR but it is an interesting thing to consider. It can be an additional class for now until the cars of yesterday are phased out.

What do people thing? Let's not make the a nimh vs lipo or brushed vs brushless debate. Who knows maybe in researching this people will think outside the box and develop something completely different.

My personal thoughts.

- I think it would be great to have a car of the future. Something that positions RC for the next 10 years or so.
- I dont know who would coordinate such a task. ROAR or similar groups might be best position but they dont seem to really have the respect of the Racers or the Vendors
- Ultimately the consumer decides. Would vendors stick with the plan of action or would they always be looking at new technologies that might trump this effort?

new tech:
I say they come up with like some kind of active suspension. like use g-force sensors and little solonoids to change spring rate in motion. might add weight but it would be cool.

racing twist:
I know electrics are direct drive but maybe make an electro magnetic clutch, it uses magnetisim to hold the plates together. the more voltage, the more grip. and only make battery limits. and see what teams can find the balance between longetivity and power.

just soem ideas to throw out there.

Default Didnt Trinity try this idea with the T-Spec?

Didnt Trinity try this standardized thing with the T-Spec? A car that you couldnt really hop up that everyone would pretty much have the same thing and it was up to tuning and driving skills to get you to the A-main?

Ok-Here's an idea everyone will really hate-

1-spec tire-something hard that doesn't have much grip and doesn't start to work until after they've been run-in(instead of the other way around like now). And no tire sauce-none-ever.

2-Bodies that look like a car and without a rear wing

3-55oz. minimum weight

Period! Anything else goes!

Let the traction limit the power and the driver's ability be the advantage.A true level playing field.

Seriously-why is it that off-road guys can run 2wd mod on dirt, but on-road guys are willing to give up anything(all their horesepower, all their cash)but not some traction? Like sophisticated 4wd cars would be "undriveable" on a high bite surface. I just don't get it.
