Default Cleveland Warm Up Sites

My local track, River Junction Raceway in Beaver, PA is having a Cleveland warm up race the Sunday before Cleveland on the 18th of November. Top drivers like Mike Blackstock, John Orr and Todd Hodge will be there. Call John (the owner) at 724-728-5571 for more info. Doors open at 2pm and racing starts at 4pm.

This track is also great during the rest of the year. It is indoors, carpet, foam tires, sedan (stock and mod), 1/12th scale stock, tables and chairs are provided, plenty of soda (and it's only 50 cents) and pizza is delivered. They race oval (pan car and sprint cars) on Saturdays and Legends and trucks (with foams) on a mild road course on Saturdays as well. The entry fee is $10 for the first class and $5 for additional classes.

The competition is always fierce. If you are in western PA, WV, or Ohio definitely check it out.

I posted this in the track locater forum as well. If you know of any Cleveland warm up races with big names please post here. Thanks.

I hear that R/C Madness in Enfield, CT is having a Cleveland warmup this coming Sunday. I think Team Associated's Mike Dumas will be there, it's his home track.

Trips,
I heard that too on Trinity Tech Talk. Have you ever raced at Bruckner's indoor place or Willis Hobbies? I will be home for the holidays on Long Island so I might bring my gear. I raced at Queens Off-roaders about eight years ago in Long Island City? Do you remember that place, were you into racing back then?

Everyone else: Please post some warm up sites for Cleveland.

Ty,

Yes, I raced at Queens Off Roaders too, around 1991=1992. I switched to carpet at RC World in MIddle Village, raced there until mid '95 or so. I moved to Texas in early '96 and was away from racing until the Spring of 2000.

I wouldn't be surprised if we knew each other back then...

Anyway, to answer your question... I've raced both Willis and Bruckners, and I prefer Bruckners. Willis has a more convenient permanent track and pit area, and the store is right upstairs, but the track is very tight and there are six huge columns supporting the ceiling. There's maybe one spot on the stand where you can see most of the track, and even then I find that if get off the line by even a bit I can't see the car at all.

Bruckner sets up the track in a school gymnasium, it's fairly big and not too tight, the disadvantage there is that you'll have to bring your own pit table and chair, and the store is a few blocks away. Still, I prefer the visibility and layout at Bruckners by far.

I just got a flyer in the mail today from them, they're having a trophy race one week from this Sunday.

Let me know if you're going to race while you're here, it'll be interesting to find out if we did know each other...

David
