Default Speed Control options

Thanks to all of you for your advice on servos.

Now I am researching speed controls.

Again,
1) What is the best ESC for the money?

I have heard that the old Novak cyclone is good and can be obtained cheaply, but is the Novak GTX worth the extra money?

I will be running 27 turn motors on carpet.

Thanks.

The GTX will give you the option run any wind motor, if you choose to run modified. IMO the GTX is worth the extra money; small, lightweight, and very feature packed. The only downside to the GTX is the large external cap.; which might be hard to fit into some chassis. I use the GTX in all of my cars, and have no issues.

I Have used the Novak GT7's and GTX's. They are both very good esc's. The GTX is smaller which can be an important consideration for some cars. Since you are running 27T motors, you may want to pick up a GT7, it is much less expensive then the GTX, but the performance is very similar.

I have run both Cyclone and GTX. Cyclone can be found for a very cheap price and can run any motor the GTX can (no motor limit). GTX is a bit smaller but, also pricier. If you have the funds get a GTX. Newer technology means peace of mind, other wise Cyclone works great. Either will keep you happy.

Default The Best Speed Controller

If you are considering racing outdoors, then the only one to get is the MRT MX, as it is the only true waterproof ESC.

On top of that the performance is the equal of any Esc on the market, and in the UK it is 2/3rds the price of a GTX.

They do have a new one due out which I beleive has a spec far superior to anything available on the market at present.

And NO I am not sponsored by anyone, I have used them for many years, but my previous ESC was GTX, good, but the brakes have faded. Have now gone back to an MRT for there quality of build and really good back up.

Andy Moore - KO VFS-1/HARA TWISTER 2.1
Mark Reinhard - KO VFS-1/TAMIYA VOLAC
Atsushi Hara - KO VFS-1/HARA TWISTER 2.1
Masami Hirosaka - KO VFS-1/YOKOMO MASAMI
Surikarn - KO VFS-1/HARA TWISTER 2.1

These race champions are wise. They all chose KO VFS-1 ESCs. Regardless of the team model, it is made by KO Propo.

Novak GTX or Keyence Rapida Pro is second choice.

Hey,
How does the hara compare to just standard VFS-1 the ko site really lacks tech specs on the ESC. Any idea of the on resitance of either of these ESC's as its just doesnt seem to be listed.

I'd previously been looking at the Rapida Pro due to its low on resitance but i see the main problem being the weight, it seems to be one of the heavyiest comp level speedos and the size, again its a fair bit bigger.

The new Tekin FX pro looks very interesting with the On resistance very low. Its got my attention at the moment. I'm also interested by its 'anti drag' for stock.

Any word on the QC3?

hara 2.0 = ko propo vfs-1
hara 2.1 = ko propo vfs-1 pro comp

I hope that helps... the vfs-1 thread is where you may find your answer.

Hope that helps

Sorry, for the record Rheinard uses the Hara Twister 2.1 as he is sponsored by Atsushi Hara Racing Products. Apart from that your spot on.
Where else do you find a speedo that "one size fits all!"

Oh sorry for the wrong input about Reinhard. But still everybody in the list uses KO. Which makes the VFS-1 speedo the champion's choice.
