I drive much better when I don't drink caffeine. Caffeine seems to lower my concetration level and I make a lot more mistakes.

I drink 4-5 cups of coffee per day from M-F......is that too much? If that affect my finger's performance, I think I have to re-adjust the radio and get that fix.

Don't know about coffee, but drinking soda will make you feel sticky (especially if you race outside when it is warm). This will make you uncomfortable and such due to the body sweating out the sugar.
You should drink water or a sports type drink to maintain hydration.

I read a book once that went into this in detail. Some people like to get super pumped before a race, others like to just chillax, others are middle grounders, others are nervous.....This book went into detail saying the very best and most efficient way to drive your car (based on real race cars) is with the utmost level of relaxation and calmness. Jitters are natural, it means you are human, but the person that can best control those feelings before and during a race will inherantly be the best driver.

In that case, I like to jake a light jog and stretch out before my races recently....helped me chill out a lot up on the stand. and....HAHAHA, you'd be amazed what a little jack johson in your earbuds will do for you up on that drivers stand!

I get the jitters when the announcer starts talking smack when myself and another racer are battling for position. I try to zone him out, but usually t-bone the pipe in the process.

One time I had a dbl shot extreme frapachino. My heart was beating fast and was having a hard time steering well becasue my fingers shake too much. Now, I only drink bottle water during race + maybe a piece of candy.

another good point...pop a new piece of gum in your mouth right as you're heading up the stand....chewing on gum or some candy will help you to get your mind off the task at hand aswell....

So I am guessing that if you drink too much coffee they call you McStinky..........LOL

Just messing Bro..

Coffee (i.e. Caffine) is a drug and over abuse will cause ill effects....Don't believe me take 7 days off of caffine and see if you go through withdrawls...
I don't particularly enjoy being addicted to anything..well except JC & R/C....LOL

Probably not just for you but those around you.

I started drinking coffee and shaved .3 off my laptimes. Oh wait, that was driving the new XRaTamHotBodAss Car that lowered my laptimes. Just to complete the thought; Lipo, Brushless, 4 cell touring, That car looks like an XRay.

The best was when the local track had a bar next door. Wednesday night race routine: Get setup, charge batteries, get a beer - Repeat after every round.

I prefer the Buckaroo Banzai method to get ready to race!!!!!!

12,000 volts to power the oscillation overthruster and then drive it through any wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I switched from Folgers to Starbucks and shaved .2 seconds off my lap times.
