All you need is some rain. Or you could use a garden hose, if it's sunny out :lol:

I would recommend against such with modern open chassis racing touring cars. Water will ruin your diffs and outdrives real fast. not to mention your bearings.

You will need tires with tread. Forget traction compound. Softest inserts.

Small rubber balloons for electronics are good. Condoms would work, too - probably not the lubricated type... :eek:

Put your grippiest setup on your car (soft springs, stand up your shocks). Drive slow and well thought out (not erractic).

Pit D20 wet tyres (21mm width) with the provided foams work very well.

softer springs all round but especially up front to make the car turn in.

2 solutions : underbody or radio box. in any case putting the electronics in balloons is a good idea, but don't forget to put some white roll in the balloons to absorb any condensation (as the esc heats up in the balloon condensation appears and might make the speedo go pop if you don't have anything to absorb it).

Oh and don't forget that the more water the more grip !

Pit Shimizu tyres, softer springs, less camber, a one-way if possible (helps with turn-in, which is always lacking in the wet).

I use a dust cover/undertray and gaffer (duct) tape to help waterproof it.
Some people use 35mm film cannisters for their receivers etc, or the sort of pots you get medication in.

Also, spray a little WD40 over the outside of the bearings to help repell water.

Wet rounds in UK championships offer good opportunities to gain points from wimps who won't run in the wet :D

WHO MAKES UNDERTRAYS?

Put it this way, given we only had two dry weekends out of six for the national series this year... you want to ask us UK guys ;)

Personally... given I use an MRT speedo (100% FULLY waterproof), the only protection I use is on the reciver. I've moved to using self-amalgamating tape to wrap it up completely. And that's about it for waterproofing... had no problems at all. Just make sure after the meeting you check all your bearings, and keep them well oiled during. I did occasionlly run some protection over the motor endbell (used a motor tube with holes drilled in the end for ventalation), but never really noticed a difference with it on or off, and after one of my motor brush shunts melted itself to the cover I haven't run it since.

Tyres... only option I've run is the Pitsumi D20 Wets (preferably in the narrow, 20mm option). Just use the std foam insert (just remember to squeeze out any water before the start of each run :p).
Have heard good things about Medial Pro wets, and the new Intermediate Pit wet, but not having run them, can't comment.

Setup wise... you'll loose steering, so make adjustments to your chassis to give it more steering (softer front springs, more rear droop). Also raise your ride hight if theres a lot of standing water... help avoid aquaplaning.

You'll need to adapt your drving style too, just keep it smooth and tight.
