Expected though.
Just hope HPI releases the PRO4 in a FULL OPTION format. I hope they did learn a lesson from the PRO3 already.

From HPI's press release:

Quote:
The RS4 Pro 4 will be a radical departure from the RS4 Pro 3, offering a change of concept for HPI both for suspension geometry & transmission. Extensive track testing of all existing electric 1/10th scale touring cars & HPI prototypes has already been done, the all-new RS4 Pro 4 is the result of that testing.

The Pro 4 features big changes over the Pro 3... new drivetrain, new suspension, and new steering geometry. Consistency, tuning options & drivability have all been dramatically improved. The most significant change is that the Pro 4, at the requests of our drivers & customers, uses a shaft drive transmission. Track testing revealed the benefits of low maintenance & fast acceleration that a shaft drive transmission offers. Again at the requests of our customers, the RS4 Pro 4 will be supplied in self-assembly kit form with key items like the radio, ESC, body and tires left to the choice of the driver. The Pro 4 will use the highest quality materials & will have a high standard specification to make it a force at the highest level of competition.

Our team drivers will be racing the Pro 4 at all major electric touring car races around the world by the end of the year, ensuring factory support and continued development of the platform to keep up with the latest racing technology.

I can't wait till i get my hand on one of those babies! BUt, once again, I'm wondering what would be better PRO 4 or Team Associated up-coming car Tc4? I've never driven a shaft and would like to experience with one of these! I hope the PRo 4 would not have a flexible CHASSIS

Mingfinity - that is the plan, a fully optioned pro-level car from the get-go.

The prototypes are nothing like the Pro 3 in flex and everyone feels very confident about the Pro 4. With a year of testing already (remember that Hara won the LRP Touring Car Masters last year with the prototype) and many more months of testing to come before release, the finished product will be very very refined. Our R&D guys are also commited to continual improvements to the car to address any issues and also to keep up with any advances that may come up.

I will probably get one.

I raced the Pro 2 and the Pro before it, only skipped the Pro 3 because of the diff problems early on, and by then I was firmly entrenched with my Yokomos.

The only thing I haven't liked about HPIs in the past was the phillips screws. Not sure if that is still an issue or not... heh

I don't think AE is working on a new Touring Car - TonyP has said that they aren't, so I would think you've got a while that you can play with the Pro4 before AE has a new car. . .

Looking forward to seeing it!

I am excited about running an HPI again. Wish I had kept my Pro 2 but a Pro 4 should do nicely!

I'm going to get one myself. Hara stayed in Sac along with Umino for a while and we really got to know him and he shared info with us on basic set up tips no matter what car a racer had....then at last years Reedy race he sat with me and told me what he was testing with the new shaft car and what he thought so far. If it hadn't been for diff problems he had one of the fastest cars there. Just from what I saw last year and the info from Hara along with Thad I will try the car. I felt that the Pro 3 was a step backwards compared to the pro 2 (IMO) but I feel that the Pro 4 will be okay. I just hope that my loyal Losi guys don't read this thread....LOL

Talking HPI is Back

Look for lots of good stuff from them this year...The latest RC world magazine in Japan discloses a lot of new info about the new Pro4 ( or what they don't call it )
