In the process of doing the Exotek conversion to my T2.

Its an excellent quality kit. Hardly needed any sanding on the edges.

Just need to do a small mod to the battery holders to fit my 5600 batteries, as they are to tall to fit under the top deck.

Can't wait to get it all together.

Here's my car waiting for me to finish the chassis prep.

xray 72 007:

when rebuilding the diffs its pretty much the same as doing an associated diff, right?
i am aware of the difference in the thrust bearing.

Just picked up a 007 and ordered an exotek chassis for it. Going to use it in VTA. Any ideas out there?

thanks

I've run a 007 on carpet before with foam tires, but never rubber. For VTA would you run the stock diff up front, or the multi diff? How about springs and oil?

thanks

Chuck...just wondering how much an old 07' is going for these days? I'm thinking of getting another one for VTA and convert it using the lipo chassis from Exotek. I have a friend that has one that I need to offer him some amount. The car is in pretty good shape.

That's about right. I paid $130 with a few extras. Car is in really good shape. Said I'd never get another TC, but VTA looks like a lot of fun.

Questions?? ?

I just bought one of these and it has a dif in front, but I want to switch to a spool. I was wondering if the 34t spool (part #305184) for the 08 work? It looks like it should, it uses the same bearings, same tooth count, and similar belt tension system. I really don't want to get that multi-dif.

Spool at the front. Stock springs are fine 35wt oil all round. Stand the front shocks up, one hole in and rear shocks laid down, two or three holes in from the diff. They are very sensitive to droop. One degree toe out on the front 3 or 4 degrees toe in on the rear and as said 2 degrees neg camber all round. Depending on how u like your steering 4 or 6 degree c hubs. Could go on but i feel like ive outstayed my welcome already! Lol

I'm sure it fits as long as it has 34 teeth. 6 degree of front. Check shims under your camber links and also the wheelbase. You have to try to keep the speed up and not scrub any off as you don't have a lot of power to help you out. Also make sure the car is well balanced. Start with a fdr of around 4.0 and go from there. 42 or 43x100 is a good place to start.

Thanks man. Yeah there is a version of the 008 spool that is a 34t. I'm actually going to use this car for my first foray into 17.5 tc. So I don't think power is going to be an issue. While the 007 isn't the latest greatest car I've heard that it still can compete especially if running a exotech chassis. Do you have a suggestion for the FDR for running 17.5 on a 70X45 carpet track?
