I like it when a new car comes out and someone comes up with some absurd amount his laptimes dropped. "I just got the new xyz and my laptimes dropped by 3 tenths a lap!" If that happened, either your old car was a POS and you should really look at your maintenance schedules or this new car will put all the other cars out of the A main at every race it goes to.

At best a new design is worth about .1 seconds. That is a few percent improvement, which is a reasonable amount improvement. If every new car that came out saw a .3 drop in lap times, the TC3 would be 2.5 seconds per lap off the pace.

At best a new design is worth about .1 seconds. On most tracks, that is between a 5 - 10% improvement, which is a stretch in itself.

I saw it somewhere that some believe this car will be shaft driven? What is the likelyhood in that? Now THAT would be a change!

True. However, you have to take into account that it is possible for a new design to be more flexible in terms of setup and driver adaptability. Therefore, a driver who hasn't found the true potential of their last car, matched to their own skill, may gain more than .1s per lap in a short amount of time with a new design.

Mass centralization does tend to make a vehicle a lot more forgiving, inspiring confidence, and therfore the lap times drop significantly and consistently.

I'm glad when I got into this here hobby thing, XRay was still being distributed by Serpent. If they were a little bit cheaper then, I would be even poorer now. XRay products are like R/C crack...you know it is expensive, you know it will cost you life and limb, you know it will drive you to the poor house, you know you have to have it. Man, glad I never bought an XRay or tried crack...I would be even more broke than I am now

I am a step away from twitching and talking to myself. Heck, when I try something new and the vehicle is gunning down the str8, I usually fall on the side of crazy. I will shut off the car, hands trembling slightly, talking to myself about the speed and how I can tweak the car to annihilate people at the track. And if I lose, calculating my paycheck on how I can divvy it up between bills, necessities, and online purchases. Oh yea, mental illness...CUBED!!!

Where ever you need it my friend.

If you think onroad is expensive, when I was racing offroad in the early '90s, I used to build a new car quarterly. After racing a car twice a week for 3 months, everything would start getting sloppy, aluminum tubs would get soft, teflon in the shocks would be getting thin, bearings would be crunchy.

At least in onroad, you dont have the whole car wore out in a few months. Slap some new plastics on it every few months, replace a few bearings, good to go.

There's a lot more worse things you could be addicted to.
