That's their business model, know it before you buy their products with false expectations.

First, let me say that I had an '05, I have a T2 and a T2R (trying it out for rubber tires on carpet) and I will more than likely get the T2 007. I love XRAY's product and their innovation. So here is an idea/challenge to the XRAY gang.

Racers love to have the latest thing and that of course comes with a price, however, in order to stay on the bleeding edge of technology why not design the upgrades between major platform changes within a frame work that allows the upgrade to be made via a modification kit (i.e. what Kyosho did from the SP1 to the SP2). A $150.00 upgrade kit lets everyone reap the benefits of the design changes and to stay loyal to the company without feeling a little taken advantage of every 10 months. Of course every so often the whole design needs to be changed as was the case from T1 based to the T2, but that could be once every two, three or four years.

This is just a thought, i realize that no one is forcing anyone to go buy a new car but this is just a recurring point of fustration that could be mitigated with a slight change in design/marketing.

I would rather go with a company that continually advances their cars and gives you the OPTION of going to the new car, than a company that doesnt update their car for 5 years, and when they do, it's worse than the old car.

I think the T2 and the T2 007 share about all the suspension parts. The ones which break in a crash. Also all the transmission parts (belts, pulleys, diffs) will remain the same. So your LHS won't really have to stock extra parts for the 007 owners. I mean you don't really break or wear out bulkheads and chassis and those are the updated part in the new kit.

I'm flaming the 007 since I have a T2, but I saw this cartoon strip awhile back and thought that it apply to some of the cars. It's just for laughs no flame.

Ok here is the way I see it for all of the guys that are hateing a new kit every so often.......

Most everyone will buy a new kit or some form of aftermarket upgrade for carpet or asphalt.

So if you sell your "current" kit and replace it, it is still cheaper than buying the replacement parts for either or both seasons.

You can sell a pretty good shaped T2 now for about $250 on here so that leaves About $100 for a TOTALLY NEW KIT....thats 4 CVD BONES on your "OLD" kit. (and you know yours are bent all up and need to be replaced) Not counting the arms that probly need to be replaced and the hubs that have some slop in them after a complete outdoor season. Plus that "BEAT-UP" chassis that you know you are not gonna run on carpet next month......

I will gladly buy a "new" kit every few months....

I can't wait for some pics of the new parts. I will get them when they are out. The T2 rocks. If you do not like the new car to bad and move on. Leave us Xray fans alone.

Look for pics to be up Tuesday

You can tell by the images on Xray's website just how much lower the top deck has gotten since the first car......

Yeah anyone who didnt see this coming...well I want what they are smoking. I cannot blame Xray for continuing to use the bussiness model that they have always used, as it must work for them. However locally TC is dying..and while I cant say that this "kit of the month thing" is to blame...I also cant say that it isnt. Its an arguement that can be flipped all over the place. Personally....all my gear is for sale. Have fun gentlemen.

The image on the site does not do the car justice. This thing is plan sick and I can see a couple of other manufactures redoing their cars.

There is nothing that says you must buy a new kit everytime something new comes out. It you race foam carpet, this kit is going to be a great update. The T2 can still win, but this will only improve it on the rug.

Looks like carpet season is going to be well contested this year. 1 week and a day and we will see who wins the 1st battle.
