aside from being able to fit a lipo under the center brace what is the benefit of running the exotec chassis?

if battery fitting is the only benefit then why not just get the atomic battery tray?

As I understand it per what I have read, the exotech chassis has better flex characteristics than a stock chassis. The fact that the larger modern lipos fit as well is an added bonus.

I haven't run 17.5 tc in a couple of years so I can't help you there. If you guys are going to use the Exotek chassis get the steel battery holders, it adds a lot of weight to the right side which really helps to balance out the car.

Im pretty sure it will fit if the bulkheads are the same distance apart. You will need the different size driveshaft end caps.

Yeah that is the only thing I was wondering about. Thanks for the heads up on the end caps, never would have thought that they would be different between the two models.

Just checked my manuals and you will need the 3.5mm for the 08 drives

It fits. I ran one I borrowed in my 007 a few weeks back when I broke one of my out drive adapters for my multi-diff. You just need to pull the blades off of your front drive shafts. I am picking up one next week to replace my multi-diff for less rotating mass.

Just got an Exotek XR07 chassis. All the holes on chassis and uperdeck are smaller that 3mm,wrong alignment with some of them with the uperdeck and the bulkheads producing unwanted tweek and the chassis countersink have to reopened otherwise it will never stay flat as the screws are staying out of the countersink holes.A lot of dremel work to do :-( I fixed everything and i hope it runs well after all. We'll see.

as for fitting a liop under the top plate i went to ebay and did the old school method on it.

took just a little weight to balance it out but overall it handles good now. now to work on this whole driving thing.

also added some other goodies to it like the spec r diffs and new rear driveshafts. the diffs are set up 30k front and 4 drops of black grease in the rear. shocks are 30wt all around with one hole front and 3 hole rear pistons.

got a t2 07 running for my son to drive. I have alum hubs and C's but if anyone has any part lots sitting around they want to get rid of for a 8 year old .. would love to hear..

I put a modern lipo on it, just fit it outside the center brace.. so its a little out board.. but moving the weight outside.. I have not had to put much of any weight on it.. and the chassis is balancing out pretty good.

So if your reading this and have old stuff lying around.. I could use the spares to keep this car running for my son as long as possible.

I'm sure you are looking for cheap parts but parts in general are still available at hobby stores like A-Main or eBay. Good luck!
