Well, you can get a very small CNC machine for around $40k new. Goes up from there to over a million.

I just got back from the IMTS in chicago. Its a machine tool show. Got to see all the latest and greatest in machining. Awesome stuff.

I have never cut CF, so I don't really know what it takes. its mostly 2d though, and I bet some guys have some slick fixturing for it, like vacuum fixturing or something that just sucks the plate down. Maybe poke a few holes and screw it down to a block or something...

I've been doing this for almost 10 years, since right out of high school. I can tell you there is more to it than just pluging in some numbers. Especially when you get into 4 and 5 axis stuff..

But, like I say, for guys set up to do CF, they probably have it down pretty good. I get approached frequently to do RC related stuff, mostly a few parts, and unfortunatly even though I would love to do the stuff, it would be just WAY to expensive to do it.

Thanks for all of the replies!

PitCrew, I am an engineer and understand what it takes. Most people use a small CNC router, which can be had for much less than the equipment you are referencing. Still, it's not cheap or simple.

Thanks again!
