Default 4-cell "NasTruck" - What's underneath?

Local track has a large tri-oval track that they are fairly competitive with 4 cell NASCAR series trucks which appear to be a road car chassis with just a stock truck body (Track picture here: http://www.hobbystop.com/images/newpicgrove.JPG). By the speed and the fact they are running a 10 min main, I would assume maybe 19-turn but I have to verify that. I have not had a chance to wander the pits yet, but I'm interested in getting my youngest into this class.

I'm an offroad guy and don't know what would be a good starter kit to run and still be competitive. I've seen the HPI sprint, but those seem a bit on the weaker side of competitive. I would like to sell off one of my mini-t's and maybe a buggie or truck to fund part of a new car/truck for him.

Please let me know if you have any ideas of where to start?

Thanks,

There oval based cars. Most there run the low $$ 10L style cars which can be found real cheap. Spec motors which run for about $30 and open 4 cell battery rule..most are running 3800 cells.. There racing has a 8 sec break out rule so speed is not a issue just making 10 minutes and not going faster than 8 seconds...

Thank you, I actually just happened across the exact club topic on carolinas rc discussing this class/track/setup.

Amazing what I can find if I just google things before asking

I was just shocked at the times, I'm used to dumping after 6-7 on dirt 6c 3300's I think I'm going to start shopping 10L's

I'm glad you found the info you were looking for on this class...

We also run a NasTruck class in our South-West Tour Series out here in California.

Our class runs handwound 19t motors or Brushless motors w/ a speed control capable of running in a SPORTSMAN mode.

We only allow 3300 batteries (This class was started by guys who wanted a class where they could run their old packs)

It's been a lot of fun this year, and we run 5 minutes.

Things are headed towards a return of the SWT Series, but for
2017 the focus will be on the Encino Velodrome (and dirt oval racing)
