Mixing pitches

I was brousing towers site and say some 64 pitch bk pitch and 48 pitch pinion gears. is it good to mix pitches of pinions and spurs?? for example:would it be okay to do if i used a 48 pitch pinion gear with a 64 pitch spur??

No. The spur and pinion must match for proper gear mesh and to calculate gear ratios correctly. Pitch refers to the size of the teeth. 48 pitch gears have larger teeth and are easier to mesh. 64 pitch has smaller teeth. The advantage of 64 pitch is a larger selection of gear ratios. However, as a new racer, I recommend you start with 48 pitch gears.

I don't know much about BK pitch, which is something Trinity cooked up to spotlight their star driver, Brian Kinwald.

BK pitch is 56 pitch, I didn't know they even made them anymore.
