I usually get 3 for a season... comes with extra tips... they actually last a long time.. I just tend to leave my iron on for 10+ hours on race day.. So I like to have spairs.

I have one of these, and it works really good. I have had it for 3 years, and I race ALOT, and leave it on ALL DAY. I have replaced the tips about 5 times, but the element still gets REALLY hot. That baby will puddle solder on a battery or anything else quite well.

My friend Lance uses one and he likes it
