Default "Official" Speed Record 134.4mph

"Given the aerodynamic forces at play and the power required to go from 134mph to 160mph (the power requirement goes up exponentially, not in direct proportion to speed), I'm afraid that if there is an error we may have a record that will be unapproachable even by the guy who set it! And so, the OFFICIAL record will be set at 134.4."

This was the correct decision. Especially since the guy didn't want to attempt to reproduce the 160 run. And considering he was able to complete SEVERAL 130+ runs.

It's a shame that this is not the official world record. Get guiness involved !!

Well its a shame that he didn't get the 160mph as the record...
From what I heard, he was attempting a second pass and messed up the throtting up and it got squirly, bumped a wall, had a small break and well they have rules that you have to have a drivable car after your speed is recorded. Shame though.
160 is now the mark for next year. If you can't get your car near that mark you might as well stay home.

I see a couple FLAWS in this thinking PeterV, and hopefully Nic will come on the help explain them.

"The aerodynamic forces and the power required" idea may be true, IF these 2 runs were both made with the same car. However, the less efficient 4wd NTC3 converted to Electric ran 134 mph correct? The 160 mph run was done with a much more powertrain efficient 2wd DIRECT DRIVE car. Probably 35 - 40 % more powertrain efficient than a multi-geared gear box, shaft driven 4wd car.

If the claim of the "RADAR" gun not being accurate is being used, then NONE of the times should be declared accurate and all the results should be NULL and VOID~ and a proper speed trap to measure Feet per Second should be used. Or..the 160 mph run should stand as clocked~

FYI. He had one 109mph pass, one 12xmph pass, and his 134.4mph pass....with the same car. I would give him the 134.4mph pass since he did, I guess, 'build up' to that speed.

The 160mph was with a different car....different setup. His 2nd pass to 'back it up' was only a 95ish mph pass. I really, really, really don't think he did 160mph....I saw both and it didn't look that much faster than his 134mph pass. Plus, he ran foam tires. I also don't think foams would hold up to 160mph speeds....

Now, don't get me wrong. 134.4 is an amazing speed. He came, with homework done and pencil sharpened, and laid it down! I have no problem saying he deserved this record....

Looks ike the massive power, and less weight of the LIPO stuff is going to help re work all the old speed records.. I remeber when guys needed 20 cells to hit 100 mph... imagine 20 lipo cells.. or even 40.. motor meltdown..
