what brushless sytem to get??????
Hi guys i want to get a brushless setup but dont really know what i should do. I run 1/12th and 2wd off-road. Heard the gtb might not clear under the 1/12th scales body.
But anyway here the choices- LRP sheare ,Novak GTB, the new Mamba, or wait till the brushless tekin arrives.
Any help on what i should go with would be great
thanks chris

If you are racing, either the LRP or the Novak would be the brushless systems to run. The Mamba and Tekin aren't legal and probably won't be for a while. I haven't seen an LRP brushless system run before but I have seen many Novaks run and every one of them seemed really quick, the brushed motors seemed to struggle to keep up with them. Also Novak has extremely good customer service, so if you have any problems (which you probably won't) you will back up and running within a few weeks.

I suggest the Sphere Comp for 2 reasons
1. It doesn't require a large cap
2. It doesn't require any setting or program changes to swap between brushed and brushless
3. As long as you dont over gear it you won' need a fan. This gives you more body clearance on a 1/12.
There are 3 types of people in this world. Those who can count . . .and those who can't.

what would be the best motor to run then for 1/12th and 2wd off road
the 5.5 for novak or the 3 star for LRP does that sound right?
I wonder if LRP or Novak are going to update thier brushless speedies soon.
I have heard that the sphere clears the body better for the 1/12 because the GTB is a bit higher.
yeah they will be used for racing too.

The 5.5 runs like an 8 turn and the 4.5 like a 7 if that helps.

Yeah, most people say that the Sphere is the best Brushless system. Better than anything else.

The best combination out now would be to run the Sphere Comp. with the Novak motors. I've seen the LRP motors have the rotors come apart too many times to trust them.
For the 2wd, stick with the 6.5 or the 7.5. The 5.5 is just too much power for a 2wd buggy. For the 1/12th scale, just depends on how fast you want to go and how good your batteries are...

I have to second the LRP Comp / Novak Motor combination, works great. The new style (4-star) rotors on the Reedy motors are MUCH better than the old which had a tendency to allow the magnets on the rotor to slide around and hence come apart.

The Novak fits fine under 12th shells without the fan, you don't need it for 4 cell.
All the guys running the LRP at the worlds were running 2 big caps on them.
As for motors I've run a 5.5 at 34mm/rev the LRP guys seem very happy with the 4* at 30mm/rev
Jason
It also seemed that they both ran better with a reciever pack

Unless there is a big class for them where you race then you may want to hold off until the technology becomes a bit more stable. Ive had problems with both the GTB and Sphere Comp.

I have a GTB with the Novak 4300 Motor (with the updated rotor and end cap) and haven't had any problems during testing. We've been running those in 1/10 scale 4-cell oval and haven't had any issues w/o the fan. Typically you get about 6 minutes of run time before the motor shuts-down, but we really have these baby's geared to the moon. I've heard of 2 folks having serious issues with the Sphere systems at our local track. If you're intending to run modified, I wouldn't have a clue what to tell you.

so for an all round motor for 1/12th scale on a big track and off road 2wd would a good choice be the 3 star for lrp/the 6.5 from novak?? thanks for the advice by the way guys!
i just hate buying the wrong gear then later regetting not waiting for the right info
