what i dont get is if the arial needs to be 3.6 inches to perform the best, why is'nt it made 3.6 inches long to begin with so we all dont have to go through all this BS???
it would save alot of confusion!

You don't have to cut it, it's not "perform the best" length, it's minimum length. Longer antennas always get stronger signal (as a general rule).

There's all sorts of info on this in the Spektrum thread...

In a nutshell, there's a good, better, best antenna length and they all work fine. Stock is one of the best, 3.6 is a very close second to stock. Mine are all 3.6 and I can go far enough that I can't tell which way the car is pointed...works fine for me.
