What Turbo Joe said plus I would also set the max charge capacity to no more than 50%. That way in the unlikely event of a glitch, it won't keep charging past 4800 mAh

It charges to around 3200. You can't compare apples to oranges. Lipos are much more efficient batteries. You get simular performance to a 4300 NiMh battery. I can mine for 10minutes in my 13.5pro Losi type R geared at about 5.2 final drive and I never lost noticable punch. Apples and oranges dude.

hi i know when the lipo is charged it goes to 8.4v... how long does it take to reach its nominal value of 7.2v if discharged at 30 amps?

is it pretty much after 1 lap? or it slowly goes down to 7.2volts like a nimh does?

I've found that it goes down slowly. I have a meter handy all the time, after a 7 minute race, mine still chack at 7.57-7.77 volts. I'm running a 13.5 at a 5.3 final drive on rubber tire/TC.

Attention Team Orion:

I bought TWO 3200 pack. Brand new.

Unfortunatly the casing of the lipo is not even sealed properly. Its supposed to "click" shut? Should I CA glue it shut?

Very dissapointed at the finish of it.

They are made that way. If the cells swell the case will open. It is probably fine. Mr. Black will tell us more.

I've done my first cycle on the Lipos....

I'm a bit concerned about the numbers....

I charged them up and then did a discharge cycle.

Charger Settings 20 amps, 6.6V cut off.

My results for the Orion 3200 was, DIS 2272mah, 6.955v Average Voltage, 33 IR

(For reference Comparing this to my IB3800 Pack i got

Dis 3021mah, 7.260v Ave Voltage, 30 IR)

You can't really cycle LiPo's like you cycle out a NiMh cell/pack. Well, you can but the numbers will not be very good. I don't think they like a high current constant discharge.

My 3200 works fine on the track and that's all that matters for me.

I hope that isnt the way it is supposed to be. I glued mine shut all the way around.

Default Dented Cell

So I have a pack from the batch where the double sided tape wasnt working so the case comes apart easily. Never did anything about it because it held together enough for me to tape it in my car. Well got the pack out the other day and the case came apart, no big deal. But I noticed one of the cells on the inside was dented. Is that a problem? What should I do? I would have thought the hard plastic case would prevent that from happening.

Its not supposed to be glued. There is double sided tape on the cells on either side that hold the case to the cells but the case itself shouldnt be glued together so it can swell.

I remember earlier advice of Mr. Black to set Ice chargers to less than 100% capacity. I am running two 3200's in series to power an electric boat. I have a cutoff set for 3.0 v/ cell. I ran them right down to that on the weekend. When I went to charge them, both charged to 90% of 3200 as capacity and the charger shut off in both cases based on reaching maximum capacity. Any problem here? Should I run the chargers at 100% capacity? I guess what I'm asking is what % of the 3200 can we actually use? Is 3 volts per cell too low of a cutoff? Is pulling 90% of capacity out, based on the recharge, too much of a discharge?

why would you need to specify a 90% capacity for, because the ICE will "peak" one it reaches 8.4V @ 0.10a
