I have an ICE and just picked up an Orion 3200.

What exactly are "correct settings"

Went brushless this winter and now LiPo, so I am kind of green on how to properly charge my new pack.

Thanks.

For the 3200, it will be:

Set the pack type- LiPo

Set the voltage- 7.4v

Set the Capacity- 3200mah

And then the charger should automatically adjust to the max charge rate that the ICE will allow for a 7.4v 3200mah pack. Its that simple.

Is it true we can now charge our 4800 lipos at 2C rate? If so, on the ICE charger, do we set the mah to 9600 so it can charge it 9.6V?

A charger that is designed to charge at 2C is recommended IE. a charger where the capacity and Amperage can be adjusted individually.

To 2C charge the 3200's you should charge the battery at no more then 6.4A and maintain the 3200mAh capacity.

If your charger does not do this then it is not recommended you try and "trick" your charger as this often bypasses some of the dsafety features and you easily damage your cells.

Mr. Black,

Would my Orion Advantage charger be one of those that will work...or would it be one that would be being fooled?

TIA

Does the 4800 and 3200 have the same cells? I am wondering if there would be any issues if I wired up the two in parallel to make a 20 minute main.

I don't know all the differences but the 4800 uses 15C cells and the 3200 uses 20C cells. Whether that would cause any problems, I don't know but I personally wouldn't mess with it.

Took a look at my new Orion 3200 today (waiting for my Orion charger to arrive on Monday to charge it) and I noticed something that struck me as odd...

The +, - and balance labeling on the battery sticker was at the oposite end of where the jacks are physically. I began to think and concluded that if the sticker was applied backwards, that would mean that the + and - jacks were incorrectly labled. So, I had to get out my meter and check for proper polarity.

Then I carefully peeled off the sticker and applied it to the battery the right way.

If you look real close you can see the + and - molded into the pack at the terminals.

Where the positive and negative on the decal on the opposite side of the ports?

No they are not the same cells and I would not wire a 3200 to a 4800 in parrallel however 2 3200 or 2 4800 will work in parrallel.

The flight is designed to charge at 1C anything further and you are risking damaging your equipment.

Why would you set max capacity at 50%? I've been charging at 1C and would like this explained and verified before I start charging at 2C.
