You need to mod a connector using the standard size plugs plus these 2mm plugs following the attached image. This is for when using the Orion Avionics Balancer , I don't know about the others. I have a better image of one I wired up posted somewhere probably in this thread. Edit: I found and attached it.

On a side note regarding balancing - I have 8 Orion Platinums that have varying amounts of usage. Not one has needed to be balanced yet. When checking with a multimeter, each cell is within .02V of each other. Out of balance is considered .20V difference or more.

Their 3200's but they are really 40% more than tat. Makes me think of "This is Spinal Tap", and our amps go to 11.

Why don't they just call it a 4480 if its 40% more capacity than a 3200?

Hi all

Who has run these 3200 Orion or Peak with a 19T? What was your run time like? Has any one done a endurance run and how long did the car run before slowing down?
I am asking because were I am racing there is not a Elec class yet and I must run with Nitro cars and their main is 15 min long.

Thanks Rodney

The 40% is an estimate based on how long the Lipo can deliver power at an acceptable voltage vs. how long the NiMh can. The Lipo has the advantage of more constant voltage through it's discharge curve but it is absolutely critical you don't go below it's threshold voltage. In an application where voltage wasn't so important (say flash for a camera) the difference wouldn't be so pronounced.

19 min with a novak 4300 brushless and Orion Platinum 4200. 15 min with a 3200/19T would be pushing it for 15min. You would probably have to gear way down and then still not have enough.

could anyone tell me if it would be safe to use orion's 3200 lipos during a wet race. ie.raining / standing water.
used mine sunday on a damp/greasey barham with no problems untill rain stoped play.
just wondering as the hard case does't appear to be waterproof and i'll rather be safe than sorry.

The Battery can be made water proof by using a balloon or condom on the plug side with rubber bands sealing the where the wires are coming out.

Also you could apply a bead of shoe-goo or silicone to the side seam to also make it water proof.

Actually you could even use the pricived Tamiya plug ( you can even change the plug) and then use silicone or ShoeGoo around the edges and around the wires coming out of the ports to make it water tight.

Basically unless you do this water could pool in the case and water is very conductive.

We mean based on capacity. =)

Are test showed the 3200 LiPo's going roughly %40 longer then 3300 NiMH's

I just purchased 3 of the 3200 packs. Question...... I am going to fully charge them today, but it could be 3 days, or it could be 3 weeks before I get to use them. At what point (how many days gone by) before I would want to repeak them before I run? In other words, 3 days don't bother, 2 weeks, might want to repeak, etc... ?????

thanks,
eric

I run mine every Sat. and I cahrge them usually on Wednesday and then run on Sat. It takes more then a week before you see any noticable discharge and even then it is so minor that it's more like 2-3 weeks before you caould even tell out on the track.

We have batteries that have have a sat on a shelf for a year and have only lost 10-15% of their charge.
