I thought Ling was just a top notch, talented R/C racer. I had no idea he was "the" lipo guru also. Thanks for the great info. Now I can direct the doubters to this thread.

Marty
Looking forward to racing with you again someday.

linger....... wow that was a very eye opening education and I thank you for that.
Guess it's true when we say "you get what you pay for"
I will go head with orion.... just don't know which to choose 3200 or 4800, but either way sounds like I won't loose

No, I don't own any of the 3200's yet. One downside of the Kokam Lipo is that they have soo much cycle life, that there is no need to buy batteries for a long long long time. I let a buddy borrow my Lipo's when I went on a racing hiatus with the arrival of my 2nd baby. I'll have to get them back.

Marty - if you want to race against me, you'll have to win TCS. The past chumps thing is about the only race I do these days and it's just once a year!

Thanks for all the info, Linger. Very informative.

BTW the price of the Peak 3200 pack is now $69.49. That's the price of a good set of IB4200 batts.

Those Tower prices have been dropping $1 a day. I bought 2 @$74. Then the price fell $3 and I got a $25 off coupon. You win some, you loose some. Their still worth it.

They have balance ports. They're small and descreet. They're up between the + and - terminals.

Thanks. I see they come with an external Tamiya power cable that plugs into the battery. Do they also come with an external balance cable for plugging into that port? What type of connector do they use? I'm used to Lipos with external cables and plugs.

Is Peak Performance as good as Team Orion's? Does it use Kokam cells?

On Horizon's website they refer to the "20C rated Kokam/Peak SLPB cells provide safest output"

My understaning is that they are the same... but that is what i hear. I do not know this for fact.

And at the rate Tower is dropping the price, if i wait about 60 more days they should be about $10 !

What do they mean by "40% more run time than NIMH equivalents". Equivalent MAH rating, or weight? ????
