No the battery is not okay. and I don't know what what went first as it was turn on the on/off switch turn my head and the people in the tech stafrting yelling my car is smoking. Turned off the switch and that was it!Smoke stopped and the new GTB and new 3200 battery were done. The 13.5 motor would not turn over- game over. It was charged on a brand new Ice.Talked with Peak today and I'm sending the battery back to them to check out.

More then likely it was the GTB not the Lipo that was the issue.I have had 2 GTBs do this and have seen about 4 others locally that have had GTB go up in smoke, some taking all the other electronics with it.

Im anxious to hear more too. My desire would be:

- 4800+ in a 3200 case
- Weight just slightly less then a nimh
- If possible, performance boost without sacrificing the durability and safety of the current cells

I'm hoping for increased capacity (helping with the weight) using Kokam's newest cells.

I did just notice (hopefully this wasnt already posted) that they have two "new" packs listed on their site. A 3200 and 4800 with TRX plugs. Hope that wasnt the big announcement

Rick never would have let that happen. I heard when batteries see Rick H coming, they discharge themselves.

I have been charging my 4800's and my 3200's at a 2C rate for several months now (Thats 9.6 and 6.4 amps respectively for our math challenged readers). It makes it a lot easier to repeak to full capacity before each round.

I agree that a 2C charge rate could possibly reduce the life expectancy, but they last so long that I don't mind losing a bit off the longevity side to make sure I am at 8.4 volts before each qual and main.

BTW, I have been runnig the same 4800 for about a year and a half with no problems and it still keeps me in the hunt. Even after charging at 2C for the last 3-6 months.
Im no expert on lipos just concern... Your lipos might be puffing inside the case and your not even aware of it because of the hard case. Lipos just dont Pop like the regular batts but it also explodes in huge flames like a small Bomb.

I strongly recommend charging your 4800 not more than 4.8amps and 3200 not more than 3.2 amps.

Poping a lipo looks fun but burning your house isnt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ0SNESIkWk

I think you should read the rest of this thread. The case are not sealed so that if the cells puff up the case splits open so it is very easy to notice.

The link has some other videos of the use of Lipo Sacks and money tins that are very encouraging in the event of a fire...

A press release should be going out soon to release the rest.

hi guys iam thinking of buying a couple of packs of these lipos.i currently race 19turn but will move up 2 mod brushless at some point in the near future.will i still get a good runtime with these packs even though they are 3200.

my dad uses the trackpower 4900 and only races stock and he rekons he can use one pack for two five minute runs.

i like the look of these packs over the others as they are not like a big box slaped in your car lol

thanks

An update with what I posted awhile back. I sent the 3200 battery back to peak/orion/Kyosho. Got a call back that the cells were still okay just the circuit board and fuse were fried. They repaired it and it's coming back.Somthing else happened I thought I'd correct. I sent my Turbo 35BL back to Ce to upgrade it to charging lipos. Don't waste your time now. They are ONLY doing the GTX!It will still be two months before they get the other chips ready.
I 'm still waiting for the GTB (2) and the 13.5 motor to come back.
