a few years ago My local club was "fortuante" to be visted by the local highway patrol officers... in those days it was 2000's and Stock motors for the majority of our top drivers...

on the main straight about 25 metres long the cars were reaching about 60km/h

Default I did a few times

Last summer I clocked my TC3 at 33 mph. with a 12 turn and a 72tooth spur and 27 tooth pinion.

Years back I clocked my Team RC 10 at 37 m.p.h. with a 7-cell, 80 tooth spur and a 33 tooth pinion. That is the fastest I have ever clock one of my RC cars.

Default Radar guns and R/C today on Dr. Phil !

Last weekend someone had a Radar gun out at Revelation. They were getting 60+ for the 1/8 scales and between 50-55 mph for the fasest sedans.

when there was a carpet track in sydney they had this speed radar like thing at the end of the straight for a few months. i was running novice with 540 motor at that stage so my car was hella slow but i think the fastest car i saw was around 65 kmh.

Mine was radared (is that really a verb?) going 37 in a 25mph zone. I was pulled over and ticketed. Oh, wait, you mean an RC car . . .

Default Radar

We have a track here in Kansas City.. a few races ago we had a radar at the end of the track and the 1/12 scale Spec. Motor cars were like 25mph and the stock motor sedans were likw 25-28. Micro Hpi cars were around 12-22 mph. Only carpet track sorry no 100mph gas cars here

Thanks Eric.B

My brother once ran his car from the passenger seat of a moving vehicle and clocked his RC car (Tamiya TA04R/10X2 motor/SMC 3000Batteries) at about 75KMH. I don't know how accurate a method this is but anyway thats what the car speedo was reading while his RC car was at top speed running beside it.

That method wouldnt be very accurate but 75 km/h doesnt sound right for 10x2. Ive run a top - end stock motor and it beat a mazda over 50m. The guy was doing about 60-65km/h

Yes criminal you are right about the RC car being able to out accelerate a vehicle but this was not a drag race. The RC car was slowly brought up to top speed while the vehicle moved along side it until the RC car reached its max and then note was made on what the speedo reading was. It probably wasn't too accurate but a reasonable Indication none the less.
The test was done on a long road in an Industrial area on the week end.
The full scale car drove in the right hand lane while the RC vehicle was in the left hand lane so the passenger could control and see it properly.
Dont try this at home folks
