Spektrum mod on a Helios

I was wondering if anyone has attempted to do the Spektrum mod on a KO EX-10 Helios yet? It gets to be a pain having to pop the module out all the time to fit the radio into my bag. If anyone has done it, can they post some pics of the process?

Thanks,

Tony

I have seen it done so it is possible. A guy I race with on occasion has done it. I would say its similar to the m8 or m11 mod. Just open both pieces up radio and module, drill a few holes, route the wire and put it back together.

I just got a 3pk I wonder if anyone has done it on that radio.

How far does the Spektrum antenna stick out of the Helios once you've done the mod? I know it can't be any where near as far as the factory antenna, just wondering what it's going to look like..

I figured it could be done. Thanks guys. That's my project for tomorrow after I get done paintin'.

well, its hard to describe how to do it... seems like the only permanent mod i made was to drill a new hole for the antenna wire to exit the Spektrum module.

and the antenna as i installed it pokes out of the top of the KO about 3/4 inch. very tidy...

Wow you mounted that kind of high eh? I have to wonder, why'd you put it up like that? Doesn't that make it more susceptible to breakage with the exposed articulation point?

I'll be doing mine tomorrow, I'll post up some pics and a bit of a tutorial when I'm done...

I did mine. It was actually easier than doing the M11. The antenna only sticks out about 3/4 to 1 inch. Sorry I can't post pictures. My camera went to Florida with the wife and kids.

The Plug is off a Trinity nut driver.

Go to your local hardware store. They'll have caps that will plug right into the hole. Perfect fit.

Well, I just finished the mod on my Helios... Took all of about 10 minutes. I was going to take pics of the process and post a short tutorial, but it's unnecessary. Open the module and drill a hole below where the connector plugs in and you're basically done. It's just disassembly and reassembly.

Looks good now though. Antenna sticks up about an inch and no ugly protrusion from the back of the case.
