It depends on what type track your runningon and if its long and fast or short and tight. On my windey (spelling?) type tracks i run with a 24t pinion and a 72t spur and it works well for me.

Sounds sort of like my track. Well i would try a 25t pinion with the stock 72t spur. I tried that today and liked the way it felt. If thats not right try going up or down a tooth. The lower the teeth on the pinion the more acceleration and more teeth is less accelertion but more top end. Hope that makes sense

Default Dyno number with a Monster

Guys;

Anyone else have a Motor Dyno, and have you done some pulls with the Monsters?

I've got a Robitronic Dyno, and am not satisfied with the numbers I'm seeing with my Motors and the Track performance either.
I did gain slightly by using Putnam Brushes, but was hoping for a little more.
Also tested the 'Tribo Lube' Com drops and was very dissapointed in the Dyno tests. All of the numbers were down and this will definately show at the track.

Default Trinity Monster Horsepower stock motor

I just wanted to say that the gains that I am seeing on my Dyno with the Putnam Brushes (Green + and Blue -) on a Monster Stock, really showed up at the track yesterday. The car was very fast, better than ever.

What was very dissapointing was running Putnams on my Matrix V10. That Motor just didn't like them.

I finally was able to use my MHS this weekend up at speedworld raceway in Roseville,ca. I was very pleased with this motor!! I tried the putnam combos ,but for some reason the RPM's just were'nt there. As soon as I put in 4499's,BAM!!! Rpm and a decent amp draw. I know,I know "amp draw doesn't tell you anything"....tell that to the rest of the sportsman stock guys there, I had MAD horsepower. Nice bottom end (as does my wife) and a real nice climb to max speed down the 110' straight-away. I had a little on power push that kept my laptimes around 17.5 sec,should be ready fot the speedworld cup this april 26-27!!

For all you Tc3 guys, I fist tried a 7.5 ratio--too low, then 7.29 (24/70)took TQ. Then 7.2 (25/72) for the main, beat my tq qualifing time by 1 second--Al

Are you using any comm drops with the Putnams? If so, which one.

Thanks

Default Com drops

Sydewynder;

I recently bought 'Tribo' drops and tried them on several Motors on my Robi Dyno. VERY dissapointing results. Overall power, torque down by 5+%. Clean the stuff out and everything is back to normal. With test results like that, I'm afraid to even try it on the track.

big al;

The Monster seem to like a 7.87 Ratio in my Pro-3 even on a slightly larger layout. Tried going up and down a few teeth on the spurs and both yield slower lap times. My Friend has an X-Ray and He's running 8.3 FDR with a Monster.
What ever works, go for it.

Hey pops, Have you checked you're brush alignment? I've got about 1mm of blackening on the edge of the brush face. I think I can get rid of about 50% of that. In theory, the less brush blackening the stronger overall power. Just something I was wondering. 7.87..whoa that's low! About how technical/not technical is your track??--AL

Pops, if you try the Tribo on the track (which I recommend that you do) you will notice the difference. Tribo does not show up real good on the dyno because of its chemical properties. Don't be afraid to mess around with gearing as well when using the Tribo.
