Blown 4.5
Hi
I just ran my 4.5 for the first time at a big meeting, it went really well. The next day it ran it, it stopped towards the end of the straight. I pulled it apart and it seems that the kevlar wrapping started to unwrap it self and part of the magnet has blown apart. This has also happened to a fellow racer at my club. What could I do to stop this from happening? and is the replacment rotor any stronger??. Thanks for any help, Drew. |
Over heating casued by improper gearing most likely. Send it back to Novak for repair/replacement.

My gearing was 10.2 and the motor never went over 70 degrees C. (159 degrees F) The operating temp for the system is 160 to 180 degrees F.

Seems like a correct gearing and op temp. Just sent an email to novak informing them about this, and send your 4.5 back for a replacement. They have the best customer service I've seen. |
Maybe a bad crash, a bad jolt perhapes ?
I`v seen a few blow that way... |
No I haven't crashed with my 4.5 before.

I'd lay my money on shoddy workmanship. Par for the course with Novak.
