I just seperated my pod from the main chassis on my CK and the motor was definitely the culprit.... Once I had it off you could see how much it was pushing against the pivot...

Advice to guys running link cars.... Get the smallest spur you can, the motor can is larger than a standard 540 brushed. Bevel the pivot linkage and keep the motor off of it....

I like to run my tires till I can't make ride height anymore....

How can you tell new endbell (sintered rotor capable) vs old endbell???
the endbell where you bolt on the spur gear will be raised slightly (where the bearing sits) on the ss endbelll and will be completely flat on the vilocity endbell.

Are you guys running the same overall gearing with the 13.5 as with a regular stock motor or does the roll-out change with this motor. Im interested. Could someone post the gearing compaired to a stock motor?

Thanks,

This motor has a lot of torque. You'll end up gearing much higher than brushed. I went up 10 teeth.

I was doubting you till I tried it myself...

He isn't kidding.... This motor is all torque.... Everyone kept saying my car looked better every lap....

O ye of little faith! Don't be scared my young grasshopper. This motor is just asking for something to do. Give it a try.
Example: I'm running 12th scale on a 76' oval, I had to put a 78T spur in! And I'm in the 40T pinion range with fairly large rear tires (50mm)!

So we're pretty much saying a 50-60mm rollout here???? Possibly even higher....

I presume you are talking 1/12th scale here - certainly not touring cars

Well, I'm not sure. I've seen so many formulas to determine rollout. I don't know which formula is right.

50mm tires would be tiny on a 10th scale....

Yes we are talking 12th scale....

James, with 78/40 gearing and 50mm tires your pretty much running an 80mm rollout!!!

Thanks,

I posted my first test results (post #338) same gearing throughout the whole day, and came in with very similar lap times brushed/brushless. I havnt had a chance to gear it up like some of the others have.

Same thing here, keeping my gearing about the same as when running with a brushed motor.
+1 or -1 a tooth depending on track size.
I don't run oval so gearing it to the moon won't do much good...plus if you gear it high just because the motor can take it chances are you won't be allowed to run with the brushed racers.

If you want to go faster than stock..try a 4300 or 5800...or just a brushed 19t. unless you're bashing or your track accepts you gearing to the moon.

Geared it up 5 teeth (comp to brushed) to about 37mm rollout (27p/84s, xray). it was really quick. motor got slightly warm, but not too hot to touch and with no heatsink on the motor, and no fan on the GTB.
