Exclamation Motor Overheated

Im having trouble with my motor that I just put in my TC3. Its a D6 11x2 motor that I normally used in my buggy, but I decided to run it in the TC3 today. My friend told me itd be fine to run on 24/72 gearing so I went ahead and tried it. I believe it then overheated and it stopped running. Took it apart and it looks like its ok. I put it back in my car and it ran for about 2 seconds, then stopped working once again. I already ruled out the ESC as a problem by running my stock motor in it. Im using a LRP IPC Pro.

Id like to know what else I should do to get it running again or if its even fixable. If I cant get it to run, would it be best to find a new arm to put in it? Would that work? If so, where can I find an arm thats not gonna be too expensive.

Thanks for all the help.

Anthony

check the windings, and compare the color to your stock, if its black or is obviously worse, then it could be just blown up.

when it quit working the second time, was the motor hot?

it could be that your esc is thermaling, if it has thermal proptection built in, and since your stock motor doesnt pull enough current(comapred to the D6) to heat it up, thats y your stock worked fine.

Also check that you do not have a loose magnet in the can.

The second time I used it and it stopped, the can felt a little bit warm, but not hot. Im gonna try some new brushes in it tomorow. So hopefully that might have been the problem since theyre a bit old.

How horrible is that gearing? Did I just screw this motor up with it?

I just checked with a local shop and its gonna cost $10 to get the comm cut. Ill try to get that done this weekend, then put in these new brushes.

Even on foams cut as small as he can get them 72/24 is to much.... It's a high RPM motor...

My neighbor did something similiar... I rebuilt a 10 single for him and didn't bother to ask what he was doing with it. He put it in his ST and geared it the same as he was running with a Monster Stock... Needless to say he literally fried 2 battery packs and did damage to an esc... tried to blame it on me...
